Nothing cosmetic, just some changes under the hood.

You should be able to upload/change your avatars now, however there seems to be a problem with linking to images using external URLs.

I recommend you upload your avatar anyway since loading the page will be faster and it doesn't have to hit other sites uneccessarily.
