Virtua Fighter 5 News from Sega Autumn Private Show

VF5 was shown at the Sega Autumn Private Show recently, and more details are now available.

First of all, aside from 1P and 2P costumes, there will now be variations of each for a total of 4 different types of costume.

The number of slots for items is now increased by 5 times!!! The reason for this is to enable players to make very unique looks for their characters.

There will be a live match broadcasting service called VF.TV which will offer live match monitoring similar to what Namco had done for Tekken 5.

Concerning VF.TV, the matches of high ranked opponents will be broadcasted live and commentated by Mr. Saitou and Mr. Fukami from Otenami Haiken.

Virtua Fighter 5 is on course for release on or after Spring next year.

This is awesome news! I love the VF.TV idea, but I wonder if that's only accessible to VF.net subscribers.

 

It's just monitors set up in each of the game centers, it's free to watch except you have to physically be there in a Japanese game center to watch. As said, this is something that Tekken 5 already does in Japan. It's kind of like espn for VF, it shows live matches and updates player rankings from around Japan.

 

That's exactly what I was guessing. So this is only available to arcades with VF.net, which leaves the U.S. out of the equation once again. I'm not shocked, but that's unfortunate. At least we can still download matches. /versus/images/graemlins/tear.gif

 

4 costumes with 20 item slots each? Wow, that'll be cool. I'm really hoping that at least they make some kind of stripped down version of the card system (T5 style) for non-Japanese markets. It'll be a shame if they don't.

 

That's all well and good, but are there any gameplay details yet? Or some new media?

The characters move so strange in that new vid. Looks great though more details are needed cant wait /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

 

yeah, the vid showing jacky and akira's movement look strange, it felt unsolid footing and light on their feet, seems like sega is still working to refine the hit detection too.

the still images and movement of close-up Wolf's shadows in the vid is bloody amazing!!

i just watched it again (back home) and i'll take back what i said, it moves bloody great!!! although possibly too smooth the way it's been animated, similar to DOA3, something not right.

 

no, it all seems to be different hit types entirely

the akira seemed to be taking extreme advantage over jacky's recovery times0_____0.

i dont undersand what jacky is doing after he blocked the elbow, seems to get pushed into a stagger (after he side steps / evades?) but the double palm seems to be a new hit type, like a side crumble. nothing major.

 

I just found some exclusive magazine scans on VF5 and they're in Chinese. I can translate it if you guys want.
