What are some good movies about america pre 1600s?

I can't seem to find anything. Everything is 1700s and on

 

are you looking for a way to "teach" without teaching? crack a book, man!!

 

Check out "Blackrobe." Other than that, I can't recall any others.

Yeah, just get a Howard Zinn book (People's History {the early chapters discuss pre-1700s if I remember correctly}).

We are actually moving through the textbook at a fairly good clip, but I have a few issues with it. First and foremost is the language is a bit advanced for my students. Secondly, it tends to really gloss over some of the negative consiquences. Everything is painted in the best light possible. On top of that a lot of my students are audio/visual learners....and when you have trouble reading that can be a problem.

I will check out blackrobe though.

more reason to crack a book, in my opinion. And then don't let the teaching stop at the open covers. if there needs to be an upacking of consequence do it. some of my best teachers were those who would let the text books do their thing and then close the books and then talk to us about what they didn't cover.

Which is well and good. Trust me, but for a LOT of kids, esp when your dealing with people already with a lot of trouble, it helps to get information from all angles.

(don't kill me for it) For a movie set in 1607 try Pocahontas. I hear it's a very deep story about native Americans.

Its about American Revolutionary War (1775–83, also American War of Independence). Theres not much that happened in America before that.
