Best advice is to try and scratch the G button when you pressing K+G together. This is assuming you are playing stick on not pad.

    Also, practice practice practice.

I try various kind of methods, from scratch the G button, press the K+G together softly, but in the end... it just came out randomly... lol

Hi guys, I'm new here and just got back into VF.(last VF I played was VF2 :p)

I was wondering about akira's dbl palm /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

I can usually get it out by buffering into it from a crouch dash with just /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or after doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

But in the command list mode under dojo, I just simply cannot execute it by holding /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif Is there any method to do it while crouching still?(i.e holding down then doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif) Or am i just doing it plain wrong? (I am using a VSHG.)

Also, I keep reading about throw escape..but i dont see any under the command list. Would appreciate if someone could enlighten me on Akira's throw escapes!(am trying to figure ETEG out)

Lastly, how do I tell which stance I am currently in? I read about closed and open stances, but am not sure of how to change stance or when I'm in which stance.

Thank you all for your help, and great forum you have here!/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/blush.gif

Answer is in the first post.

    Basically:

Input crouch dash /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

It comes out smoother if you dash towards the first input and makes his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif combos easier:

    1p (left side)

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

Thanks Sebo, but I CAN actually do it after a forward or backwards crouch dash or a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

What I'm having loads of problems with is doing it while crouching still /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif then doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

Is it possible to be done while crouching stationary then doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif?

It is possible to do just by holding /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. You just have to do it really fast so that all inputs are in before Akira begins to stand up.

To do a throw escape you just have to do the last input of the throw you are trying to escape and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif . So to escape Kage's Ten Foot Toss which is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif , you just do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif or for Wolf's Giant Swing which is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif you would need to just do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif . If you want to escape a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif throw, then you would only do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif . To do a ETEG, you would first input /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif to initate an evade then input one or more throw escapes and end by releasing only /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and keeping /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif held down.

/\ /\ = open /\\/ = closed. If both characters are leading with the same foot, then it is a closed stance, if they're not leading with the same foot then it is open. You can tell it is open stance since you can't get as close to the opponent as with closed. There are certain moves that will change your stance, such as Akira's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

I would further clarify by saying that is you want to escape a throw that involves pushing towards your opponent /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif you would also obviously, as your are facing your opponent, push towards them, which would mean pressing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif and not /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif, if you see what I mean.

I have probably just made things less clear, actually. What I mean is, a towards throw is escaped by pushing towards, not the same direction on the stick.

New VF5 Akira player here, I hope you guys can answer my nubby questions. ^ ^; uh, ALOT of nubby questions.

43P+G throw is where Akira does the shoulder into oppn's back, and from the combo threads I read, suppostly allows for this to happen:

    43P+G, 466P+K (crumple stun), 66KK.
But sometimes randomly, my 466P+K comes too short and doesn't connect.

Is this a common n00b mis-input? If so, what can I do/practice to make sure the 466P+K will hit for sure?

    Also for the throw:
42P+G, Akira will trip the oppn, and move behind, causing a small stagger. I know by tapping 246P and 26P, DblPlm and single palm will come out respectivly, but sometimes I can only get the single palm out when I try to get the double palm, or at worse, accidently making 46P come out instead. I think I tried different timings and even trying to do the 246 tapping asap, but that doesnt' always work.

Anything I can do to get more accurecty on the dblpalms?

Are there any moves that are good round openers for Akira? Sometimes (though not over and over) I do 46P+K in the beginning to hope and score a knockdown. I tried playing around with 1146P, 6P, 66P, 3K, even 3P+K at the start of matches. But I'm thinking I should prob just crouch dash back and see what's going on first, but I like to set the pace of the match if possible.

Another problem I'm starting to notice is that alot of akira's main good moves are mids, AND, most are step-able. I did some reading on some threads, and watched some match vids, and basically I only have these results:
Throws, 46P+K (for one side), 66P+K(other side), 46P (high punisher). Is that basically what I can use to mixup from being too predictable from the stepable mids?

Besides throwing, what's a good move to use after a successful evade?

Finally, anti-character stuff I'm having trouble with.
Eileen and her 236P+K flip mixups.
Shun and his freaken wave his arms around sabaki that causes crumple stun after.
    Brad and his swaying.
    Escaping from stance-stringing Leis.

Anyways, that's all I can think of for now. MAJOR thanks in advance to any help I get for any of those questions. x_x I know I asked alot of stuff.

I have had this a few times, I think this has to do with you or your opponents stance and the direction you choose when you dodge behind them, play with it a little bit and see what you can find out.

With the kuzushi double palm(it works in a few situations - stumble throw, surprise exchange and one of the guard breaks - dP+K+G) you just have to practice and get up you accuracy, its not really that hard.

Other openings I use are - fPbPP, fPP+K+G, fPbfP+G, ffpbfP+G,bP+K+G>fp,dbP+K+G>P+K>fp - pretty much anything can work given the right circumstances.

Learn to buffer your movements, I didn't get anywhere with Akira until I learned how to buffer ffP, fffP, bffP+K and other essentials, in essence with Akira you need to have very good timing and Ukizemi skills, you've got to counter attack and pressure your opponent - don't be trying to throw out strings like P+KP+K>ffKK against anyone who knows how to evade.

ddbbP, ddbbP+K, bdfP, dfdf+p, dfK, even SPOD experiment with a few different things, evade~hit need a real good sense of timing and watch out for strings that have circular moves at the end - Pai or Lau's.

Guarding and timing, when to hit - it might be a good idea to look at the frame data for each area you're having trouble with and try to work out when they are vulnerable - I usually guard my way through Shun's sabaki and with Lei stringers - these guys can be pretty predictable , if you can yomi them then they are a piece of cake.

The best thing to do is just practice and practice - lose a lot as long as you are learning.

Ah, so it was 64P+G2_4 instead of the 43P+G throw. Doh, no wonder I coun't connect it. Now I got it just fine. Is there any usual follow ups or garenteed damage you can get from 43P+G then?

For the post-stagger palms, 2146P works well! And it's alot more consistent then just tapping 246P for me.

And for Shun's sabaki, I had thought he was safe but at a disadvantage, gah. But now playing more turtly when he's at that stance and using shrm works ok.

    Thanks for the tips!

As far as I know, the only guaranteed followup is buffered doublepalm and even it feels harder to hit now than in Evo.

Since Shun's megasabaki doesnt work on shoulders, you should use
    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif
Which counts as a shoulder. This move also gives you good antidote against other nasty sabakis, parrys etc like Pai's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, Leis cranestance etc etc. Not to mention it goes under high attacks at relatively neutral or advantageous situation and is semicircular (evaded in the other direction than /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif )

btw, for round openers I usually do backdash,evade,CD/dash->guard
to play it safe. Other options: dash(or slight delay)-low punch, backdash-sidekick, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, or
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif which is pretty good against other elbow speed attacks, since standing palm does usually more damage than most other elbowspeed attacks (like other Akira's SDE) and thus will win in that situation. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is also good option to go under high attacks.

Experiment with timing and delay. Also take notice at what situation your opponent goes for evade. They might do it after certain attacks of their own are blocked. In that case, delay your attack or throw slightly (for instance K~G -> throw to get easy delaymethod). This was one of my biggest hurdles while learning Akira, how to vary my timing and avoid being predictable. In several cases delay will beat so-called 'advanced' defense techniques.

On a pad good luck, this move is easy on a Stick just slide the thumb past the G while tapping the K. I got it 70-80 percent on stick but on pad it's like impossible.

I can do the akira's knee easily, just set your pad like triangle as K+G and circle as K and then presse quicly first triangle and after circle, like square->triangle of forrest law on tekken

    A couple of things:

#1.) I've been trying to decide if /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is worth using over /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. I know they're both i19, are -7 on block, and cover Akira's Backside.

I know /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif tech-crouches, does more total damage, and is a shoulder-type attack.

But /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif seems to offer a bit more advantage on hit and MC, not to mention side-turns the opponent. Does it have any more potential than that? Any combo potential?

#2.) What's the main reason to use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gifrelease/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif over /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif? Is it just the fact that it's 1-frame faster and 2-frames less on block?

#3) I've been looking for combos in these areas, but didn't spot them in the Black Book thread:
    -/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (with opponent's back to a wall)
    -/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (any potential?)
-/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (I know this was on there, but is /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif really the best thing you can do? There's nothing better?)
-/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif (Ice-9 pretty much answered this. Just /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif?)

    Appreciate it, guys.
