The floating height seems the same of a normal hit yoho, so for the light people jab, standing palm, double palm should work...

Not that I can pull it off, eh!

Yeah that should work, maybe p> yoho> double palm will too, I don't know why I didn't think of these earlier /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

I'll try them both out later.

The new VF5 mixups between /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and their followups are indeed very nice. I particularly like to do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif and then followup with some normal move like DE, or even dash forward and throw. If opponent tries to interrupt these, you can simply do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and the elbow will most likely interrupt them giving a small float. In VF4 Teirou Kanpo was mere curiosity.

The SDE from Teirou Kampo is a very cool move and I believe it has a hitbox that makes its range greater than one would think.

i seem to have quite a bit of trouble keeping my advantage after flooring my opponent (especially if they choose not to tech roll). i get killed by rising attacks, even when i block them, i have hard time punishing the rising attack. what r some good options to help me stay offensive after a knockdown?

The simplest way to deal with a rising attack is to keep enough distance from your opponent to avoid the rising attack and assault during the recovery frames.

Yup. I love waiting for people to do a rising attack then I just swoop in for an easy throw or fast attack. If you are close in range and fail to get away in time it really becomes a guessing game. Your best bet is to make the opponent think you are blocking high/low and then trick them and block the opposite. On block you will have the advantage so take it. Also be ready with your next line of attacks. If you have a low block planned and it works, know what your doing next. Just like chess its about the plan, so be ready and execute.

yeah, keeping distance does seem pretty simple and its what i usually go for, but some of akiras moves leave me very close to them on the ground. for example the P+G throw leaves them right next to me and no matter how fast i try to back dash there is no way to avoid their rising attack. i've been trying to use OM and sometimes i avoid the rising attack and end up behind them, but sometimes (most times) i get hit...can OM be timed to succesfully evade rising attacks 100% of the time?

i like your idea Auvii, i'll try that tonight

It can be tough with Akira since he has that slow back up speed. But Akira is his best at close range. If you are limited on knowledge in this regard I would recommend staying on the opponent and play defensive mind games. Also learn your range. If one moves put you right next to them and you know getting out of range is more risky then holding your ground and blocking, don't take the risk. Master that aspects of the basics and I am sure you will find your self winning the rising battle.

Also be aware that many of the rising attack spammers disappear at higher levels. Later on the attacks become far more strategically placed rather then spamming them every single time. I take extreme caution on wake up attacks when facing Akira players. If they successfully block then I will most likely get some ownage to the face.

As for your question on OM while someone is rising, I say don't do it. Stand your ground. That advice comes from one of the best Akira players, so I try to live by it. Stand your ground and defend.

thanks. n e advice on best options to punish a blocked rising attack. i usually go for shoulder ram on blocked low rising attack and 3+P+K+G for blocked mid rising since both seem to score counter hits against low/high P. how disadvantaged am i after being hit by a low rising attack?

if you do his neutral throw, the side kick is the wake-up kick and can be countered. The wake-up low however can not be countered.

I've found that foes who think 'ah, he's right next to me, kick HIM!' don't know that his Renkentai /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif will own them and register as CH ^_^

my favorite for akira 66p+k 8 or 2 towards their back side i think.if it sucessfully dodge the rising k try buffering a 1 frame knee or to keep it simple follow up with the elbow.if the elbow hits the whiff low rising k i believe it staggers then follow up with a quick move or floater against players that dont stagger recovery.another way is do 66p+k 8 or 2 early input an om if successful use om p(might stagger)3k(Backcrumple if no stagger recovery) 662p(quick dash low p to refloat) DLC. btw pretty tough doing it on a 360 controller stick

You can either back dash (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif), or jump back (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gifhold) or delayed jump back/heavy down attack (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/ub.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gifhold)
