I would agree, mechanically that Taka is easier than Wolf. It was a stylistic mismatch for me, and Wolf is closer to my style of play and makes him easier to use.

The rewarding/fun factor plays into how much effort people are willing to put in to win & improve in their main.

    Off Topic:

FS the game as a whole, I would say is 70% into it's lifespan. But as characters development of their full skill set is 60% & below. 3/4 to 1/2 of the FS cast is at that # or below. & I think it's fair to say that AK & JA are exception being at 90% since they have a particular few who has put in a looooot of effort into understanding & developing them. But I'm referring to JP here not even outside of it with these #s. In the past all VF version either ran it's lifespan or AM2 had new ideas they wanted to test. But FS is the first version in VF that I know of that isn't in that situation.

Yup XBL and PSN but haven't really played in eons (one match against Dennis in many years haha). Plan to be more active soon. I'm "KrsJin" on both.

My experiment with Taka and other characters made me enjoy Kage again. The grass wasn't greener after all.

I'd had to completely relearn AK in FS & I'd had fun again using him as well as appreciate what this version was trying to achieve. Lastly I would say FS AK is my second favorite to FT AK.

You may enjoy using KA again, after completely relearning him in FS. But that requires a lot of time which something which you rather be spending it with someone else. :)

I agree with this. I think you have to factor in whether the style of the character fits how you play to determine ease of use.

I so agree with this. Today I watched a Japanese match between a Blaze and a Wolf and saw a Blaze combo i've never seen before. This game still has soo much left to find!!!

Lion's game plan is to wittle you down by pestering you with lows with a few mids thrown in. He was never a explosive damage character. He mainly works much better having the opponent side turn. Thats where the aggressiveness really get pours on. Plus the longer Lion can keep you side turned the worse it is for you.

Quarter Circle motions arent difficult if you play other fgs like kof or street fighter.

Well one thing Jacky has over a Akira player is strings with alot of EX Highs in them. Making it hard to 2P to interrupt. And Jacky has waay better pressure. Akira is a bit more read reliant then Jacky. But once he does you can watch your lifebar melt away..

So..... Instead of learning your char changes.... You tried to learn a whole new char.....In the double time it would’ve took to see and learn that Kage has damage potential still? And Then fail on top of that?

That's true. Buffering quarter circle motions comes natural to me from years of playing Street Fighter. El Fuerte is nothing but quarter circles! Smh! I believe Tricky has arm/hand issues, so the constant buffering could be a problem for him after a while.

I did something similar to this before but for a different reason. I learned a new character in VF4 rather than use the old character I used in VF3 because I felt that playing and old character in a new game would potentially reinforce old habits that wouldn't necessarily work as well in a new system. But fortunately I had better luck with it than you did. Could've easily gone the other way tho. Lol!

    Not quite.

Exploring and learning about the other characters wasn't in lieu of learning and playing Kage. I was still using him and learning about him.

I opened myself to the potential of changing characters, ultimately landed on Taka. While I agree that switching to Taka failed, I don't think I failed in my ultimate goal: I'm still playing.

In the process, I learned more about the FS system from different character perspectives and gained a better appreciation for Kage's FS iteration.

I think this is a wise and healthy approach to playing and learning fighters in general but especially true for long-time VF players learning FS. I think more players would benefit from this mindset and approach to be honest.

Me, when it comes to fighting games even VF, I don't rely on tier lists to tell me which character is easy to use, or which character is hard to use. Because in alot of cases, tier lists give alot of false info.

If you want to find out for yourself, which character is easy or difficult, play every single character and find out for yourself. That's what I did when SoulCalibur 1 on the dreamcast, was the big rage back then. And that's how I learned how to play, every single character.
