I'd like to believe that it'll come out, but VF5's sales figures would lead one to believe otherwise...

Whatever, it'll come out when it comes out, until then-
Street Fighter IV is the way to go...

Honestly I don't think they need to do a port of VF5R soon. We all know a Revision will come out sometime in the next few months. Eventually if we hold out long enough say maybe even past Tekken 6 launch on PS3/360 they could go and announce a home port.

Announcing VF5R anytime during SF4's hype is plain suicide. From a sales standpoint one would think a summer release would make sense since that's when the gaming drought occurs and SF4's hype should die down by then. Then all they'd have to worry about is Tekken 6's release in Winter.

The way I see it, the more we wait the more we get when/if the port ever comes. Besides SEGA probably won't consider it until Sonic and the Black Knight drops... since sadly that's the game series that pays the bills.

You could just not read all the threads concerning it and then STFU, instead of bitching in those threads about others bitching...making us bitch about that and making us all hypocrites for bitching about someone bitching...or something.

June 2009 would be a good time for a release I think. Is Tekken 6 any good? I've never played it. Is it the fact that Tekken has a bigger name than VF? I think they would be about equal...

Well, no... Tekken is a lot more popular than VF is.
2 years ago in France there were some 100+ players tournaments, VF could never bring more than 10 ppl or so... I guess in US the proportions are not so extreme (from VFDC I see that you have more players than here, plus you have some healthy playgroup as the NY one) but imho there is still a lot more Tekkener's than VF'ers... Alas.

If SEGA wants to keep VF in competition, or potentially make a run at the top of the 3-D fighting game genre, they are going to HAVE TO release VFs, in general, on consoles or wither away and die of irrelevance.

I just don't see how you can compete when one company is targeting a million people and the other one is targeting a billion. Who's gonna sell more games? Obviously the guy that was trying to sell their game to a pool of a billion people rather than a million...

VF won't sell as well as Tekken, SF, or SC even if they time their release at the right time. It has its own select number of people like us who play it, online play will bring in more new blood but it won't be enough to rival Tekken 6 or SF4 etc even when the initial rush dies down. They will have to bring out VF games more often as it was said to even have a chance to rival the other good fighters around like the next KOF game and so on. Unless they really go against their morals and do something that is out of the norm nothing will really change. If Sega doesn't release R at all that will kill them and they will be so far behind that they will have no chance to come back even if VF6 comes out later it won't matter.

They have to release R in the next year or so or they are doomed simple as that. I am sure they know this and plan some kind of console release in the near future. At least that is what I hope anyway.

I don't see why people are giving up hope already. Sega doesn't release a VF game on console until the arcade version has reached ver. C or D.

I'd rather wait on R until Sega feels its the best and most balanced version they can possibly make.

Shadow, that is what I'm afraid of! That SEGA will not put out VF5R on console and then no one will give a half a shit when (or if) VF6 comes out... No one but us VFDCers will even remember what VF is.

If they are abandoning the idea of R on console, they might as well pack VF up for good and move on. R is way better than 5 ver C. I think we can all see that. But if SEGA bothered to make it just for the Japanese arcades only, how much could they have even made off of R??? Probably not even that much.

It just doesn't seem like a sound decision for the future of the company not to stick with one of their flag-ship series. I'm confounded by their logic honestly... VF4 EVO was a huge hit, was it not?

I will wait for it as long as I need to wait I haven't given up on it until I hear a confirmed no from Sega officially that will be at least a year or 2 until then I will play version C even if I play SF4 or SC4 once in a while as well.

I'm still a firm believer that VF5R can do better than all other versions of VF, in terms of popularity. Lots of things just got toned down to appeal to people who don't want to jump into the jungle that is the VF system. Easier inputs, easier throw escapes, and bigger damage. Not to mention looking flashy as hell.

I'm uncertain whether this will be enough in the times of an easy-accesible SFIV, Super Smash Bros., or Tekken 6.
