Do you still believe in VF5R for consoles?

Yeah i'm going to guys, gonna try and compose something today that I can email to sites like those... As you guys should know though, words fail me a little so might take me a while to compose something decent.

I've got a top undergraduate degree in Sports Broadcasting and PR. If you want to write something, post it here, and at least let me dig through it and format it correctly. If not, I don't go back to Manhattan for another 35 hours, so I could write up a long press release from VFDC that anyone from the community could submit to various video gaming websites.

I actually have many off days with my job (including today) so I was compiling lists of video game news outlets on the internet that we could request a mention from.

We all know Gamespot, IGN, Kotaku, Kiziko, but we need a larger list, and we also need the most efficient ways to contact people from those sites. Meaning we need emails of editors or someone who would be able to submit or generate content. The next best way to contact an outlet is going to a support page (IGN has tickets just like Sega of America).

Here's an example of what needs to be done. On this website you have a clear link to the email of the owner and one of main operators of the site. Compile a list of those sites and the absolute best way to contact them. Then someone or a group of us drafts a press release or a story detailing the history of VF's lack of console support and then we submit.

A press release from VFDC needs to contain everything. From what happened with VF4FT, to VF5 and VF5R, and we meed to mention the WCG, EVo, and 'year of the fighter' as well.

Edit: Here's a link to a press release from WCG. Notice at the bottom there are four contacts to WCG or related personnel. Perhaps we could recruit someone from WCG to contacting Sega or even MS to assist us in getting support for this game.

Well I don't think we need anything too long, just explain the current situation with R. Maybe link the Kikizo interview for the part where Makoto Osaki says a console release might be possible if the demand is enough & see if there's anyway can they help.

Most of the sites like Kotaku etc. Have email links where you can email the staff, so that bits easy enough.

Yah though, be great if you could type this up. Probably end it up a lot better than if I did it lol. Or I can compose it and you give it some serious editing [IMG]

I wrote a giant blog post at portalversus.com.br (the BR FG community) but I realized it was too big so I reduced it a fair bit, going straight to the point. I'll be posting this week a series of msgs explaining the history of Virtua Fighter in general, in an attempt to educate the community here since many only know the name Virtua Fighter and nothing else (or think it's slow, because they never saw someone playing the game well)

Subject: The fans of Virtua Fighter need your help!

Message: Many must have heard about Virtua Fighter, the 3D fighting series created by SEGA in 1993 for the Arcades that originated the genre, nowadays better known for series such as Tekken, Soulcalibur and Dead or Alive.

As a Brazilian fan of the series I would like to ask all of you who are reading this, fans or not, to leave a message at SEGA's wall on Facebook. Anything works, as long as it's in English and mentions the desire of the Brazilian players for Virtua Fighter 5 R on PS3 and X360. If you don't speak English, here is a message you can copy and paste on the page:

“SEGA, the Brazilian community of fighting games wants to play Virtua Fighter 5 R on PS3 and X360 with Online on both. Please make it happen!
    www.portalversus.com.br

If you don't have a facebook account, to create one is very easy and shouldn't take more than 2 minutes off your time as most steps during the creation of the account may be skipped. Just register yourself with your real first and last names (or if you don't want to, create a name, but do not use nicknames!).

*Warning: Avoid flooding, threats and bad words.

The game is found exclusively on Japanese Arcades for almost a year and according to people from SEGA itself the manifestation of the fans' desire is a determining factor in the decision of whether to bring the game for the consoles or not.

Those who do not know about Virtua Fighter 5 R or about the series in general, standby for a next post where I'll talk about the origins of Virtua Fighter and its first steps. *insert a Brazilian expression here that wouldn't make any fucking sense in English* (Sit and there comes history!)

Until then, enjoy this video of the game and comment!

I appreciate all the work your doing bro, but and while it probably doesn't matter it might be nice to link to a cooler vid. Maybe something more current with some crazy customization, maybe some wall combos, half wall throws and some fast pace stepping.

If some people are like me there going to click the link and then they might be like "this doesn't look very impressing. I'm helping for what reason again?"

Hope no one takes offense to this, just thought I'd share my feedback after hitting the link cause I was like oh cool it might be a hot match I haven't seen yet.

I was going to suggest this brad match that was placed on dural's stage where this brad player was showing some crazy skill and stepping but I can't find it. [IMG]

Well it's your own fault for not bringing your own Empire shirt. Remember you were wearing KPS's shirt. That's why there is a mix up. LOL

I saw that last week and found it amusing, but didn't think it was worth mentioning.

This coming Friday, MS JP will have an offical announcement event (not for VF). Let's pray!!

Tbh I thought of linking to a match of Reno playing Taka vs a great Jean player, since they are both R exclusive stuff, but I was afraid of the reaction from people towards the bizarre customs. I'll be posting the history of VF on the blog soon, and will link plenty of cooler videos with actual custom costumes, bizarre or not!

Thanks a lot for the feedback mate

And woo great news on SEGA's wall

EDIT: I asked them for an ETA and I suggest everyone to do the same, simply because "coming soon" could be "lay off our facebook wall, someday maybe you will have your wish granted, I dunno lol". Having an ETA we know exactly how long we should wait.

Official Cease fire till we get the announcement! [IMG]

Whatever the announcement is, I'm ok with it. More than anything I just hate the uncertainty of not knowing WTF the deal is. If they say no, I can just put VF on the backburner for a long time and get on with my other hobbies and responsibilities. But if they say they are gonna make it....
    WOHOOOOOO! [IMG]

I'd like to thank everyone for their help. Its awesome to see what people can do when they join together and speak out as a group.
