Do you still believe in VF5R for consoles?

Sorry but I'd rather not get my hopes up for the "Final Tuned" version of VF5. Specially after SEGA's response to one of Feck's messages: <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">Indeed. Having a community is always healthy for any game, and it's good to have vocal support for a title. However, you've got to remember games have to make money for the games industry to continue to grow and progress. If games aren't made or ported, you can often assume they don't match this criteria.</div></div>

Believing we'll get the final version... it's like that whole story of chasing a carrot on a stick. The problem is SOJ doesn't seem to understand there is a fighting craze over here in the West right now. If even SNKP can generate hype with KOF in America, a franchise much less popular than VF, I don't see why SEGA couldn't do the same for VF.

Another thing I questioned them (but they deleted it) is why SOJ thinks franchises like NiGHTS and Golden Axe are worth the risk of being revived while VF isn't. It doesn't make any sense to me D: Didn't Beast Rider sucks?

This.

Lots of good fighting games coming out. I'll stick with VF and start playing others as i start to get bored. Can't see myself walking away from VF for a long long time.

VF5 final tuned?

This is like when I was a teenager and the girl I fancied screwed all my friends, but I kept telling myself "sooner or later she'll get tired and come to me". Only it never happened.

Sudden_Death, I was going along with you post just fine, until
I bumped into the new whore analogy [IMG] Look man, its just an interesting observation: to start out your post with jesus and then meander into new whores is straight up hilarious dude. So everyone wants the new whore? [IMG] Anyway I can relate to the rest of the stuff your saying. There's a lot to VF5. As you said learn new characters [IMG] I just opened up Dural about a month ago. And I got VF5 on day 1. I didn't know that you had to beat everybody in arcade mode to open Dural. Also I still haven't opened up the training stage to fight on in VS. matches. Even worse there are still some moves for my main fighter that I find very hard to pull off in a match. The VF5
Training Mode has endless application it really does.

I've said this many times, VF is the best fighting game on the planet. We have a version for next gen consoles that looks and plays awesome. Even if they never made another version for the consoles we have VF5 which is the highest quality fighting game. If we get another version (and I know we will) it will be icing on the cake. I have the PS3 version with no-online, but I believed Sega and thought online wasn't possible for VF so I never looked for, or depended on it as a feature. I depend on
our local community of VF players casuals and hardcore instead of online.

I also heard that the online XBox 360 thing is not that hot anyway.
I heard that there are not that many people online playing it.
So I don't even see that as a deficit for the PS3 version. We've got a helluva game now! I'm glad Sega brought it to both
next gen consoles. I'm glad its an awesome game.

Let's all calm down, and squeeze every ounce out of VF5. Maybe if we spend more energy organizing local tourneys and recruiting frustrated Tekken and DOA players we can expand the
VF customer base to the point where Sega never hesitates to put out the next console release.

Masterpo, thank your for your kind words,

I am in no way criticizing VF5, it's just that I find Sega irritating. They have the best games and the worse management. Sega should have been reformed in the mid-nineties when they fucked up the Saturn so badly with their disjointed policies. They didn't learn from the Saturn and they didn't learn from the DC. The issue here is not the quality of VF5, but the decision making process at Sega. What is this company up to? They are a mess. They are truly a fucked up mess.

In the words of most athletes "yeah, no". Some of us are a few version behind R. Learning a new character to fight AI loses it's charm rather fast.

I might be giving Sega too much credit, but I think VF5R (or 5: Final Tuned or whatever) will be out when it's financially viable for them to do so. Fan response is one indicator of interest, but I think the appeal has to be larger to justify the investment. There's plenty of potential reasons they could not want to release it right now: possibly even if everyone who posts here bought it for $60, they still might not make enough money to justify the risk. Or, they could be waiting until KOF and BlazBlue are out so their game doesn't fall through the cracks. Sega put out VF4EVO for the PS2 at $20 new, and that was an incredible move that got a lot of players into the game who wouldn't have checked it out otherwise, including myself.

The fact that 5R is out somewhere else doesn't change the kind of game that 5 is. If you're going to quit to play something else, then quit, but don't pretend like R would change anything: you'd just play until you didn't get the next update and whine about that. I still play 3rd Strike, which is a great game and a lot of fun; if SF4 hadn't come out in the US, does it suddenly make that game not worth playing?

Sorry Spanky, but youre wrong. By your meter, all the other games Sega released recently should not have been released either. The Golden Axe Beast Rider game that got an average of 45% on metacritic? How many copies did they expect to sell of that half-arsed job? (no MP in a golden axe game?WTF??)

They have to stop dicking around and focus of what their true fans want. I can imagine its tough out there, but they have to rationalize their budget and deliver games cheaply and quickly and sell them to their customers. R cannot be so expensive to port anyway. THIS IS NOT A BUSINESS DECISION, THIS IS THE RESULT OF SEGA BEING OUT OF TOUCH AND FUCKED UP.

I mean, they are a GAME COMPANY, making games is their business. If they losing money on games, they either have to make cheaper games or sell more copies. Releasing games like golden axe :BR was not either. It was a bad game, got awful reviews, sold badly. How is that a good business move? that is the action of a company who clearly lost his shit.

There's no way in hell I'm buying ANY of those games they released online yesterday.

They released a bunch of ancient games and don't give us the cutting edge stuff. As far as I'm concerned, they wasted more money and another opportunity yesterday.

Call me crazy , but isn't the whole point of them bringing VF5R to consoles so we can learn some new characters? Lol. Anyway I want to fuck that new whore in town, VF5R . But me first , I hate sloppy seconds.

I'm going to email Sega , "The New Whore in Town" should be the official subtitle for VF5R for current gen systems .

In Japan, they play VF5R. Outside of Japan, there's VF5 Version C. VF5 is the fighter of choice for WCG. Regardless of how you look at it, this is the best fighter you'll probably ever get your hands on right now, even if the game is "outdated". Accept that. I recall Tony breaking his abstinence to play a few games. So yeah go ahead, quit if you want. I don't wanna see vagina blood all over the place though.

Not true though. Nobody who's played BR and VF5 at a considerable-enough level would say that.

VF5:R > T6BR = Vanilla VF5 > HDR > etc.

I never thought Tekken would actually be anywhere near VF's level, but Namco did it with BR (and no, all the other Tekkens didn't come close, they always got something terribly wrong). Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if I found out that Namco pirated some of AM2's people in creating it.

But at the end of the day, the fact remains that 5:R is such a superior game, which is why I can't bring myself to forgive Sega's insane decision. I just don't want to be disappointed anymore - especially over something that is supposed to be a fun escape for me.
