Do you still believe in VF5R for consoles?

    Version C of VF5R.
VF5F, which is prejudicly after VF5R
    and VF4 Final Tuned.

If Sega follows the pattern then an eventual version C won't contain any gameplay changes from Version B (which isn't guaranteed to contain any actual changes either, but it seems logical since ver A didn't).

I'm not alone in thinking that there's just not much reason for Sega to do a "FT" to VF5. They probably want to leave the 5 era behind them.

Version B for vf5 r still isnt out yet but will be in the next few months with balance changes. Currently the arcade version for vf5r is A.

It makes sense, when they release a new version of the arcade (version B), they'll announce the older version of R for home consoles. (I hope!)

They've followed this strategy in the past, if i'm not mistaken.

I think Sega's normal plan with VF (and the best) is keep making new arcade versions until they make a version (usually C) that requires little to no gameplay tweaks. At that point they can say "ok, we'll start working on the console version at the same time as arcade ver C." I mean, why release a game that's busted for consoles? Tekken 6 illustrates this point pretty clearly.

Now Sega did break that formula for ps3 VF5 (ver. B), but I think that was mostly due to the first-to-market mentality that so many publishers get when a new generation of consoles comes out.

I'm not worried. VF5R for consoles seems very likely in my mind.

Actually, I think VF4 Ver C. (not Evo) was released in the arcade and on JP PS2 at the same time.

Ahhh i see. I always figured they gave us VF4 Version C because EVO was being released in the arcades soon (or not so soon) after. Then again, my VF history has always been pretty shaky, so i'm probably wrong.

I will believe it when i see it and an official word of it being canned is given through an official source. I don't care about the rumors going around either I want to hear official news that R is being canceled. The game is one of the series Sega is known for and one of their best sellers since the company was making consoles many years ago, that should count for something.

The best thing we can do is wait and hear it from Sega officially before we get ahead of ourselves here.

In the meantime, enjoy vf5. It's a great game and I doubt anyone here has mastered it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I dont have anything solid besides the hints I get from my friends at SOJ. The last conversation wasn't all that happy as it was about all the layoffs.

    LOL

Wouldn't you have to have heard "official news" about it being developed before you get the news it's canceled?!

I'm not saying anything either way but generally, I really don't think sega would ever officially say, "no, we aren't making (place title here)". I dont think there was ever any word about not making shenmue 3 and thats so they can keep the hope alive if they one day do decide to make it. Imagine what would happen to this place if sega made an official statement saying "no, we aren't making R". Many people would just give up waiting and move to SF4 and Tekken without looking back.

Yeah I get you. btw, about the layoffs and arcade shutdowns, do you know if AM2 or VF machines were affected at all? I know that VF5R is on the top 5 most played arcade games in Japan so I suppose the news affected other projects and not our beloved franchise (not in a critical way at least), right?
