Good Games Thread

Netrom is norwegian VF-player and very good. I know him personally. He used to be Akira player and has for example visited Boston VFers along with his identical brother who goes by the name Raider(used to play Kage). Think they had dan-ranks in japan during VF4evo.

Both brothers have nearly stopped playing VF though cause they dont like VF5 system. Nice to hear them still play.

Happy Friend for taking my infant Vanessa Through the Noob ringer with that 20 wins or so in a row. My pride hurts but my skills slightly improved, hah.

SMB - Nasty Lei Fei, very practical, I could see the flare but you didn't need it for me for the most part, good shit man.

DaBadSeed - Mean Lion as well as a nasty Pai. One of these days man, one of these days.

VF5365(?)- Sorry too lazy to check right now. But wow, I've never had a Ranked Match where a mutual decision was made to back away from a ring out and finish the fight in the middle of the ring with no Mic. Outside of that little slice of Nobility, the matches we had were indeed fantastic in terms of application and improvisation (Lei vs. Lei) can't wait to fight again man.

Cozby - Damn, I could see some holes, but could do nothing about them as I'm sure my holes were much bigger and fundamental, one of the 3 best Lei's I've played against without question.

I'm forgetting people but for now this is what I got. GGs all around. Some lame ones but I guess that's what the other thread is for. Peace

 

I met the twins in that Boston Tournament years ago (can't believe it was years ago). Glad that they picked up the game again.

i think we were both stuck in static mode because of the unexpectected lag i think from my end. in my house the wireless connection goes up and down during the day because it shares throughout the family (and it's not especially amazing). any suggestion to overcome this problem are much welcomed as im really really playing VF less because of it o__o).

Are you hooking up your xbox via wireless adapter? It's better to hook it via wire. Maybe give that a try and see if it improves.

My game doesn't have the creativity or the Flash it used too, i've been a minimalist lately, i should really get a lil more fancy, but thats what happens when you occasionally play level expert, you can't confuse it with stance changes sooooo. To that extent you neeed to "dance" with more of a purpose, too many times you are a ways away flipping around and falling to the ground, lol, and just begging to be arrow punched, and i was glad to oblige.

use a cable to maintain consistent high speed connectivity. a cable can go 100 ft before affecting the connection speed.

 

Also since you are most likely using a router. Head over to the portforward portforward website and look up how to set your router up for optimum efficiency for XBL. It's really does help to have the correct ports open on your router. It definitely helped improve some of the connection problems I was having with people who I couldn't connect with before.

Good Games recently to Pompey Fraz, King of VF4, SMB, and VF5395.

Slide needs to chill. I have never seem anyone so mad about a session of VF. It was months ago. He thinks that I am a crazy machi runaway player. I think he is wrong. I think I am a pretty straight forward Lau player who relies on mixups and yomi and good combos to win.

To everybody who plays with me: Am I a crazy keep away, 44 Lau? Give it to me straight; I can take it!

Basically, from what I've seen, Slide's game is built around taking advantage of moves that give advantage, even on guard and taking advantage of the flamingo stance moves that give Sarah advantage even on guard. He looks to capitalize on the strengths of flamingo stance and the opponent's ignorance of the properties of the stance's moves. When the opponent tries to interrupt the rush, counter hit! Woo Hoo! Mix in some throws.

That's a fine way to play. I don't think it's wrong or anything. Since I don't really know when I can get a hit in vs. Flamingo, I try and do my best to avoid getting stuck in it in the first place. Yes, that may mean backing away at times, but I really back away so I can get an attack in, rather than trying to deal with strings and a stance that is hard to interrupt. And I try to avoid tech rolling any more than necessary so I don't have a total lack of initiative to deal with. I think Slide actually got angry when I didn't tech roll!

Basically, if I do back dash against Slide, it's not part of an irritating machi hit and run strategy, but is instead the best way I can think of to deal with a rush consisting of moves that give advantage on block. I'd rather be the one throwing out the first attack because even if it's blocked, at least I know where I stand.

If anyone can think of a wiser strategy to use in this match up, I'd be happy to hear it.

 

Um, play smarter? That's actually how you're supposed to play VF- at least with Sarah.

The thing with Flamingo is you HAVE to guess against it- but damage-wise, guessing can be in your favor. My problem tends to be disrespecting the Flamingo too much. Sarah can punish backdash from Flamingo as well.

 

Happy you've never been run away against me, hell, i'm lucky if you give me enough room to even take a breath! Buuuuuut that being said, next time I play Sarah and she goes flamingo, I'm going to run away and try to make sure to get the firs hit in, you know, at least that way i'll know where I stand.
In all seriousness, you beat me 15 games in a row the first time we played, if you were playing cheap i would have been furious, as it stands, I just thought you were REALLY good.
