I agree it's best to space against Flamingo-happy Sarahs and come back with the right attack at the right time. Vanessa has a very good close range move against that dreaded stance though: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is 9fr (I think) and it can generally interrupt some of the strings. My favourite one is her /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif sabaki but unfortunately I can't pull it off everytime...

 

Based on last night matches, I think u should go play with betabow more and try ur best to learn what he already got. He showed me almost all Lau can do and made me fit it.

My suggestion is don't relay on the specific attacking ways, especially most players already understand what kind of advantages by Lau. On the hand, try to mix up a little bit more, it's much helpful for Lau actually~~

 

IMHO, Happy_Friend is one of the most aggressive, offensive oriented players on all of XBOX Live that I have played. I would say him and DaBadSeed probably have the two most effective rush-downs of anyone I have played.

The hardest thing to me about beating Happy_Friend (which I can't say I've done too many times) is finding when you can attack him without paying dearly for it... If I see myself get floated, I know I'm going for a long, painful ride across the screen. To call this guy machi is straight up backwards.

DaBadSeed doesn't use as high-damage of a character as Lau but he's no less effective (his Aoi actually scares me...) You will get punched, kicked and counter hit till you're lifeless body is laying under the letters KO regardless when you face either of those two...

 

Hey, thanks guys. It's good to have input from other people because nobody can really be objective about themselves. And in this game there is such a huge difference between doing something to somebody and having it done to you. Like when I get my opponent to whiff a rising attack and float him with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif I'm like "Damn I'm smooth." Then if someone does it to me, I'm like "Cheap bastard!"

Still, I am pretty sure I am not turtly in comparison to other players. I recorded a match against a very good U.S. player and I counted that he did 25 back dashes in one match!

I think that the last time I played Slide he got mad because I basically took away what he wanted to do. I hit him with lots of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif strings, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif etc. And when I got knocked down I got up carefully and cautiously rather then tech rolling and letting him have huge advantage as a result. Rather than accept that I could handle him like that, he blamed my "cheap style." That's human nature though.

Funny thing is I actually think that it is a good idea to avoid people whose style makes you angry. The game should be fun and if you are getting more pissed off than having fun, find someone else to play. DMPK-happy, 44 Jackys I try to avoid for example. I'll admit that wins and losses factor in though. If I can beat a DMPK & range attack spamming Vanessa, I'll stick around. It's satisfying to Pwn annoying players. If I lose consistently, I may quit. It's the combination of annoying style and defeat that makes me contemplate retirement.

I guess I just think that while Slide is free to avoid whoever he wants, he should fight me cuz I'm a fun guy. I'm Happy Friend for Christ's sake!

 

Yeah, he seems very similar to me in style. When we fight each other, there is not a lot of time where nothing's happening. It's like aggressive good (Happy Friend) vs. aggressive evil (Bad Seed)! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

 

You're funny Happy Friend. You must be two-faced or something, because you're showing a totally different side on these forums. Excluding DM P+K, you play exactly in the way of the posts describing the style you despise.

I played you yesterday and after our 3 matches I didn't want to play you anymore, because you aren't fun to fight against and you play like a robo-turtle set to automatic. There was no mindgames, there was no yomi, there was no nothing. You avoided it all, it wasn't fun so I left, and I would've left if I lost, too.

I seriously don't understand how you can assume I'm mad about this. I left and played someone I preferred to play, it's as simple as that. I even sent you a message saying sorry that I stopped, but you aren't fun to play against.

If anyone is coming off as mad, It would seem to be you based on this tirade. I left the 'issue' alone with you, cause it ain't even that serious.

In your message to me on xbox live, you even admitted that your "turtle lau is famous"

Basically all this is looking like, is you posting up in this thread trying to get validation from people that you probably destroy, anyway.

 

Yep he destroys me, but does it offensively, lol.
What rank are you slide? win%? (I know these aren't the only measures of how good someone is, but they're the only ones we can quantify on a message board)

II HOWL II: Which was what I was doing. Granted I was using Vanessa at the time but the last time I was seeing THAT many cancels with Jacky, I was fighting Black Bauer.

Low Sweep: I already told you but I'll say it again - This officially makes you only the 2nd Vanessa user I can tolerate.

Fly Gamer: I would've used Vanessa against you, but I was already on a El Blaze run, sorry...

vf95...I forget now: I almost didn't follow the same advise I was giving the other guy in the Bad Games Thread. I wasn't going to jump out or anything but I didn't think I'd win based on my performance in the previous rounds.

Hopefully my wireless will hold up for most of the night, that is all...

Ggs to Gentlemanthief playing you was a severe wake up call I gotta lot left to pick up on as far as fundamentals. He punished all of my rising kicks after he blocked them with Goh's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (Myke you couldn't be more right) and he uses back dashing to cause my evades to whiff which result in more pain for me. He uses combos I've never seen before damn I recommend Gentlemanthief to anyone looking for a hard matchup

I haven't played too much online lately since I've been in training but I do remember having a great time with CommonSensei.

 

Lau in general is very hard to play against Offline. He is very powerful and pretty easy to master

and when you add online and the possibility of lag to the equation then he becomes a handful even in the hands of an average type player.

I consider myself an average player at best, but when I play Happyfriend (a bit laggy) and Betabow (minimal lag or offline) it is a night and day difference.

Either way just have fun and play the game /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Right now I'll give huge props to Gernburgs, simply for being the first guy to put me in a sudden death match and making some obvious (albeit somewhat extreme) adjustments to my fighting style throughout the whole session.

Pompeyfr: Lately I haven't been able to fight you, wireless must be going crazy.

Hopefully I can get some more matches in tonight.

Ggs to my older brother he uses the old drunk guy and is picking up the monkey. If you guys think I'm good play this guy. His GT is Mont67 he usually only plays player match.
