I just asked Deathsushi this, but I'd like to hear the general consensus on if this game has a solid amount of players online. I got it for Christmas and think the game is beautiful from its visuals, music and deep and sick gameplay.

Just would like ot know how many people are around for me to fight. I've been doing my research on the game, and while its a daunting task, i'd like to be able to become decent. It would suck if there's only a handful of people to play though.

Looking to use Kage/Sarah/Jacky, but will focus on Kage until I am comfortable with him.

You shouldn't have any problems finding games unless you're searching at 3AM.

You will see the same people though. It's not like Halo in that you can see someone once and then never see them again.

Your best bet is to start adding VFDC members to your list.

Saturday night is probably the most active night of the week.

One question though, where are you from?

ahhh tomorrow's my day off, so tonite i threw down on 4 1/2 hours of VF5.
ggs to VFDC's own MIA, is he on a milkbox somewhere, jhow77. He never shows up here on this site, but of the high ranked players online he's the one who plays me the most. Go figure.
ggs to gentleman theif. Ur eillien is starting to stack up nicely. I see u building depth. Now if i'd occasionally escape 4 throw. BTW, sometimes i wonder just how much of the match u spend entering escapes when u start blocking lei's 4 pg, and pg neutral. Those are his worst throws. I'd like to get a few more versus ur goh sometime.
and ggs to deathsushi. It was a little bit of a disappointment. I had been trying to get games with you for a while, and the lag was just so that it was playable but chasing u away from effectively slipping. Which is kinda brad's thing. Hopefully next time we play that will be smoothed out a little.

oh i forgot. ggs to iS Serged12. This guy is a good akira player. he uses alot of DM p+k to his detriment when he should evade throw or evade combo. He is painfully a pad player, never attempting KNEE, SPOD, 6k,3p, 466pk, or whatever, and a few other pad limitations. He relies on the 2pk,k,p or whatever finisher everytime, and uses only a handful of moves. Yet, he is still a strong and dangerous player. With the right guidance he could be a really good player. Props. I don't think he posts here. has anyone else played this guy?

Versatile - I'll give you the same details I think I gave in shoutbox. Although the North American community is relatively small (I can't speak for Europe and Asia, etc.), it's tight, and it's welcoming. I picked up VF5 once I learned that the XBox 360 supported playing online - that was the only reason I needed to know that I was going to buy a 360 instead of any other system. There's a lot of ground to cover, and you'll be amazed at the depth you can cover and learn, even if you're only fighting five players each day (which you won't be). VF5 is an amazing game, and it was a great gift! Do us all a favour though - post on these forums, even if it's only a "good games" post once in a while. Whenever one of us contributes to these forums, we help expand our local community, and that's what we need the most in the North American fighting game community. Japan? They don't need anything at all, they've got VF5 in the arcades. Me? I have my choices between whack-a-mole and Tekken X (now with more cyborgs!!!!!1)

Social Ruin - It was great to play you again, after such a long hiatus. I know you said that the lag was bad, but I still found it enjoyable. Good adaptation both ways - you picked up on my evades and DM P+K, and after punishing me for a while a with low sweeps, the pendulum swung back my way as I learned to block those. Definitely one of the best opportunities to learn from that I've had these holidays, and that's saying a lot, because I've come back into the game and felt like I've been picking up on a lot of new things recently. Thanks!

Great games to Seidon! We've talked back and forth in the forums, but never actually played. Either your Brad is far from a beginner, or I am playing at the level of a beginner (and I like to believe that I've progressed to some extent).

It was a pleasure to learn some new tricks from you (I've felt like I've only been learning from within lately, and that's a more difficult path to follow without any other outside influence), and the matches were very well balanced I thought.

Your yomi was also very good, which is another aspect I like to learn from and see used against me. It's not always present in online games, and it's really a pleasure to try to strategize around. On top of all that, the lag seemed totally bearable to me, and you're a pretty cool guy to talk to as well!

    NICE ONE BRUVVA

Good Games to everyone who beat my ass yesterday. I'm NOT good anymore at all... I've lost some of my instincts and my guessing game has been literally terrible.

A lot of good players out there though... Kudos to VFDC as a whole!

There HAS to be some weirdness due to us being thousands of kilometers apart. Other than that, I did notice that I could 2K underneath Eileen's 236P even though it's a mid. I guess it's because she's flying through the air. THAT doesn't explain why Akira's elbow sabaki can stop it, though. I'm sure both those events were legitimate - I've not seen them before, though.

ggs to everyone I played yesterday, I had fun...even with my extremely weak Akira. Man, I got a lotta respect for you Akira players. That dude takes a LOT of work to even begin to effectively use. My execution's garbage -_-

ggs to white worm. was that really ur 1st day with pai? It couldnt have been. If so props. It's nice to have another solid player to good player on my list. I like having people of the same skill level and better. I would say use yip kick a little more. by bro does and it's tuff to stop. Nice pai. The win loss didn't tell the story of how close those were. 5 round almost every time.
ggs tfam. lol. I'm trying to play u without 2_3p, without dmp+k, and without too many 2p for defensive purpose. For real. I feel guily everytime i dmp+k vs you. But u know what. Playing without those, i don't really feel like i'm without options. So i believe it's making me better. The biggest issue i have with not using those is i freeze as i resist the muscle memory. If i could eliminate the freeze i think it would hardly nerf my game at all. Sorry i bounced so quick, but cozby will hardly ever play me, and when i asked he was play NBA something.
It's one of my pet peaves when someone invites you to a game while ur playing a different game or different mode on vf5, and u quit as soon as u get the invite, but by the time u get to player they are already playing someone and never respond. WTF? You know how long it takes to change games/come to player matches, lol.
And lastly. I know you won't type the words good games (or ggs) in front of my name. Guess i'm not good enough, but whatever. I'll still give to you. ggs to cozby. I don't know if u know this, but you bring an intimidation factor to the table when i play you. I know ur the percieved strongest of the lei's, and my bro says u always handle him pretty well. Couple that with i never get to play ur lei. U ripped off 6 or 7 (i think 7) straight against me. I had to slap myself and stop watching like u were gonna break out a lei fei fireball i don't have. Man, u got that thing going for u that i only see in a few players. U seem to "bend" the system on vf. Ur buffered bokutai is nasty. It's just so hard to adjust to cause u whip it out soooo fast. 466pk, bokutai float. But i finally got to do some things against. ggs player. Also big, big props on throw escape after whiffed 66p. That's dedication.

lol i think talking and playing w/ shang has kinda had a subconscious effect on me. I haven't really been all that big on VF as of recent, i bought a big ass phat ass LCD TV and Rock Band + ive been messing w/ the lady folks and that's been a pretty good reason for me to stop playing VF for awhile, considering im quite confident there hasn't been a day where I haven't AT LEAST went into dojo in the past year. But if someone goes out of their way to invite to games im gonna play regardless.

I'm still kinda scrubby with my stick inputs but it's fun trying to boxstep like a fool. It's fun playing you as I am forced to react appropriately to situations I either put myself in or are put into. you use 3k! awesome hahaha that is the perfect lei fei move imo. Its a 15f mid kick that can force so much on decision making and we all know how random lei-fei can be.

2p - 2_3 p can beat everything including 2p! hahaha that move is gone in R btw i believe the new 2_3p is vulnerable to p, meaning a jab wont whiff over it. In small frame disadvantages im always thinking "crouch guard first" so I'm usually saved from sweeps, most which can be punished with 9k+g but I dont use that move... not by choice though it just the stick.

Lei-Fei is cool but I find it more fun running a more traditional character sometimes. Don't doubt yourself. I'm not asking everyone to improve and play like Jeebus or anything - If you play and love the game, that's very very impressive and admirable. Naturally we all grow. Hell, I was the shittiest player when I started playing VF. If you look at my YouTube you'll see some VF4 videos which were taped last year. And for the record im not ALL that good in any sort of way. I know what to do, but a Denkai or a Lucky can react to situations much faster than I do.

Hey social_ruin ggs to you. I mean every time I play you your always seem to get stronger and your always thinking out side the box. As far as cozby goes i got owned for the longest time by his monk. I mean the fear factor was so great it took me forever to get a win in on him. I would just freeze up. I fear cozby so much that it makes me fear your monk. You guys are killing me.

everyone, GAURD pwns 2_3p. I wanted u to block it and throw me cozby, so u could see i've been working on TE and ETEG since last we played, but u'd block it and attack every time.
They took it out in R? Well considering we'll never get R...but really, i don't care what they take out. I'll adapt and be just as good (or adapt to over to using shun and be better, lol). If 2_3p wasn't in the game i wouldnt use it.
And yes. I use 3K!!!!!!!! I have been using 3k since...since...since...wait for it...since last time i played u and u tore me up with it : P <----true story. I love stagger, then knowing my opponent is ducking a throw so i 3k, then throw. Or even better when they catch on and duck after my 3k and i stagger, 3k, 3k, THEN throw. It makes me feel hoss.
I don't really like 9kg to counter sweeps. It's too inconsistent. I know everyone says it's online play, but it's inconsistent offline as well. I think sometimes we trick ourselves with this 'it's online so..." nonsense. realistically, if a move is -13 frames on block and ur doing a 12 frame move to hit, that's 1 frame of reaction for u to garauntee. I mean, that's not automatic online or off. It's like everyone thinks they are the michael jordan of timing and button inputs offline.
nn8989 ur one of the people that seems to get better everytime i play u as well. Even when i do better win % wise then i did last time (i don't know if that's been the case, but if i did)it doesn't change the fact u always have answers u didn't have last time i played u. generally if i'm killing u with something then its something new, and not just me killing u with the exact same thing over and over and over. Whenever i play someone i respect, i always make it a point to make several substantial changes about every 5 or 8 games. mabye they don't work, but they'll usually allow me to go back to what i started with and have that be effective all over again.
On a side note, i'm starting to get to the point where i feel like i can whittle an opponents moves down to a smaller and smaller selection and then focus on beating that limited move set. I know excellent players do this to me. So it's kinda exciting to see myself constricting others options down. OK, my 4:30 a.m. post is over.

P.S. The ggs are player specific. My comments about on vs offline play and my abilities/likes/dislikes, are broad, sweeping generalizations that don't always hold true even against scrubby competitions and are no way directed specifically at the participants mentioned within the post. These veiws are the express opinion of the poster, and do not necesarrily reflect the veiws of the moderators or ur internet provider.

Anyone ever ever played FalkenUpper??? Pai player with some serious skills. He fucking thrashed me last night on another level. If I don't look at her frames he's going to destroy me every game, almost every round.

ggs to Social Ruin. It was really my first day with pai in vf5, but I did play her a lot in evo. Vanessa is my main, i'll hit you up with her soon.

GGS to Panther. Man, talk about a back and fourth, huh? How many ranking matches did I lose to you? That Aoi is tricky. Its hard for me to react to ppp online, especially against Aoi.
