    Trust me, guessing with Goh ain't safe. If you mean guessing with a sabaki, that's not easy. You do the wrong one and you're gonna eat the attack for a counter. The matches I lose the worst are the ones where I make a few incorrect guesses and get beasted for it.

    The ONLY way to really utilize Goh's guessing game is to not really "guess" but smush them into very few options. If I do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif on normal hit, that's a PERFECT time to go for a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif 2P sabaki cause it's one of their few options in that situation.

    The only other time it's truly a good idea to guess with him is when you've recognized a pattern and you're ready to try and punish them for being repetitive. If you land it, you can crush them... Once in a while I'll use a sabaki off a tech-roll to see if I can catch them trying to punish with a kick or mid punch/elbow...

    On some guesses, Goh pretty much has a chance to end the round right there; i.e. stomach crumple -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif->OM+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif for a back stagger -> Low back throw... That's 120 at least but it requires several correct guesses in a row. If you guess right 3 times in a row, it's fair you get big damage.

    Out of curiosity, what "safe pokes/guesses" did you mean, I must be missing something... Specifics will help my strategy if you can give them. I'd appreciate it. EDIT: Maybe you meant he has good moves that don't lead to guaranteed damage???

    I have trouble with opponents that are strong from mid-long range. Sometimes I just can't get in... Jacky is a good example. Full circular mid kick to my face trying to close the gap.

    No I don't mean guessing with a sabaki.

    The huge damage throw game(2 seperate direction 70pt throws, and I think like 2 60pt throws), the 6K counter hit 80pts combo which is safe on guard, the catch throw which does about 65 or 70pts with the free combo. The half circular ducking low hit throw that does 70pts, as a couple examples.

    Jacky's full circular mid kick, Goh's shoulder can go under it. I don't use Goh, but I use Jacky and Lucky makes sure to go under that fc mid with the shoulder, which he creates a great situation for catch throw btw from that.

    Like I said a few pages back in this thread, I see VF and the matchups as how many correct choices are needed to win a round.

    There are, how many correct choices for like max damage unpunishable, punishable, and totally safe, and then how fast those moves are to know how frequent you can expect them to come out and to get an idea of how often a CH can happen with them.

    You seal your game up morally, you can drastically reduce how often you get counter hit, needless to say catch throws and sabaki can put a hurt on a moral game. So basically Goh can subject you to alot of CHs.

    mmmhhhmm *nods head in favor of some of slide's opinions* My problem with Goh is that damn low kick hit throw.... shit goes under anything it seems. Also is it me, but I swear Goh's shoulder seems to work a hell of a lot better than Akira's. I've seen that shit beat out so many things that make me blink twice and say WTF! I swear it seems more evasive and gives better advantage, but hey it could just be in my head or my hate for how good Lucky uses it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

    He uses that shoulder mad good.

    What he gets me with alot of is that catch throw. That thing is mad scary. Inescapable, can't guard it, cant evade/ETE/ETEG it.

    Sarah vs Goh. The 46K sabaki used to be a huge thing, but our game has changed from that, so it's only a threat now.

    What am I supposed to do with his 46K sabaki?? Is that only for up and middle attack? Nice move just like Lion's 214p~

    He has 70 pts for 270 forward, 65 for 270 back. I personally only get ~45 from the 66P+G catch throw, but I see what you're saying.

    When someone is good with their character and really knows how to use and abuse their move properties, every character in VF5 is straight deadly. EVERYONE gets frustrated I'm sure. Kaminari beat me so hard with Sarah earlier this week, I really didn't even know what to do...

    I played Lion and thought he was weak until DaBadSeed and Texas Lion got their hands on me so... I understand.

    I like using Goh cause (like you said) he can throw people off a moral game and if I notice something I can exploit, Goh has the tools to do it. I have to keep playing and keep practicing and I will get there.

    Just hearing people say what they have seen his moves do to and what they can beat is very helpful. I will try to use the shoulder more evasively just cause of these posts.

    It beats side and mid kicks only, but it is also a good attack in its own right. 46K is pretty quick and has a surprisingly long range, I use it a lot.

    Like Slide mentioned, it can work well against Sarah depending on the match. It eats a lot of her options from Flamingo...

    Yeah it wasn't until like 2 weeks ago(the last time I played Lucky) I finally understood why they made Goh catch throw a hit throw in VF5:R. If you just stand up you can't do anything to beat it once he has conditioned you. Sure I know that's part of VF and it's not anyone's fault if you are not guessing right other than your own, but upon quick rise or tech roll his options become much stronger because of the fact you can't ETEG or just stand and guard that throw like Slide said. Well at least I'm not the only one on the end of that frustration stick.

    I agree with you guys as well. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/whistle.gif Goh's shoulder does work work a bit better than Akira's, at least I felt that way when I played as Akira. Nowadays, I think Goh is an A ranked character on the tierlists, Instead of the top of B. When you have a safe 80 damage option against abares, 70 damage option to stop etegs with two very strong throws + strong mids, there isn't much you can do. Add in his strong sabaki's, his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif which is kinda ridiculous and the best whiff punishment move on the game (imo) in /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, and rounds start to end pretty quickly /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif .

    I admire that... a guy who is willing to step up to the plate and admit that some things just aren't right. Now that we all agree on the facts, credit still has to go out to you and all Goh players, because getting him to that level where these options become insanely strong is definitely not an easy task. If you were next to me I'd pat you on the back, but since your not I'll just say screw you for working me over in ranking tonight. GG's bro!

    GG's to Denkai as well. Best 1 hour or more of Turtle Fighter 5 I ever played. I think I did a lot better than I thought I would, especially when I saw you put Lau up to the plate. Care to help me with some Kage vs. Shun practice?

    But on a side note...srlsy, WTF, if i don't see you executing better combos and executing them more accurately, i will march directly over to another thread and adopt you!!

    I'm all for some of your alternate combos, sacrificing 2-5 pts of damage for a different combo is enjoyable every now and then, but your combo off the 234 sabaki, kk low k out of doku??? Unless its netting more damage than i think, why in the world not go 1p+k pp p+k, chase down with offensive move or arrow punch

    because kk low k works on everyone including heavyweights with no possibility of techrolling or anything like that
    I can also land it in lag pretty easily.

    In regards to executing combos... well... I'm still trying to determine whether that's actually me, or yet another stick failing... I'm still not sure, but this one is my longest lasting stick by far... most average about 3-4 months and this one has lasted like 7.... so it may be about that time.
    I *think* the failing button is k. But its yet to become so pronounced that it wont work while mashing it hard... so... *shrug*
