The good thing though is that you don't even need the knee. Yoho works just fine.

Yoho is a best floater move, but the knee can catch opponents on the ground ._.

Akira has other moves to catch opponents on the ground... I'm not saying the knee is useless, but you don't really need it to be effective with Akira.

Personally I think knee is of greater importance then ever before with the shldrm nerf etc.

The knee has actually been nerfed. In VF4 and VF4 Evo - it was only just throw counterable. Now I can be punched afterwards. I am of the offended hardcore. SEGA is sort-of following your line of thinking - "too many people in Japan can do the KNEE. In response, since we can't really make it harder to do, we'll make it more punishable so as not to offend people on the receiving end."

I am famous for knee in NAVF. If I had understood how PR worked when I sent my entry, my AI's in-game PR would've been:

    Watch for the
    fabulous KNEE

I think the English commentary shouts KNEE! whenever I pull one off is an intentional honor to me (ok, I'm joking about this).

That you even propose taking away the skill required. Ooooh! I don't like it. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif What good is KNEE when there's nothing special required to perform it? What good is VF if you can't win with 10-strings? What good is VF if you can't win with 22 frame reversals? Play a new game, man. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

The "problem" you describe - that the KNEE is not accessible to everyone - well, that's a pretty subjective term. I call it a "feature." /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

In all seriousness - if you want to do the KNEE - the easiest way is to buy a good stick like the HG or RAP3 (or do a sanwa button mod on an FS3) and practice it - a lot.

How about it being 1/100 of a frame and even then it comes out randomly (so 50/50)?

    I think that'd be fun.

    Seriously:

    Akira's Knee FTW.

I wish Jeffry had a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif:/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif move, maybe something like Kuma's unblockable fart. That'd rock ass (pardon the poor pun).

question: can you still do the body check when your oppenent is on the wall or hit the ground instead of the knee? I know that the body check works in VF4:evo, but i haven't seen anyone do the body check.

It still works, but the damage is significantly less than it was in VF4, and if your opponent techrolls, you WILL feel pain. Lots of it.

That's why it's not really used in that situation.

This is actually a pretty spot on topic, however people who have claims of the knee have neglected to post their technique! Chamone' now. I say you all (you rockin' Akira playaz') collaborate this effort and express how you perform the knee. From what I have read so far, it's just chaff information.

I'm by no means a valid Akira user, but i'm sure myself and nubs alike would love to hear the advice from the experts here. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

Edit: Gack, I take that back. There has been some useful informattion on a pad. To clear things up, I was referring towards a stick. Danka.

If someone doesn't buy the game because of 1 charcter's move, I feel safe to say that person is pretty stupid.

Actually the topic is a joke. The topic "how do you do akira's knee???!!!" and variations were already an old joke when I reged here in 2002.

You do the knee by pressing the K & G buttons at the same time but letting go of the G button after 1 frame. With an arcade stick there are two ways to accomplish this...

1)press K & G but just kinda scrape the G button with the edge of your thumb or thumbnail(assuming thumb, index, middle on G, P, K respectively). This method is good if you have a cheaper arcade stick since the buttons thereupon typically register anywhere from 2-4 frames per press (compared to the very consistant 2 of good sanwa buttons). The drawback is this method doesn't work well with buttons that feature a low profile & this method can displace your fingers at a time when you need to either be pressing buttons for defense or finishing your combo.

2)press K & G but just bounce your thumb(or whatever finger) on the G button (ie, lift the thumb up quickly). This method is good if you have low profile buttons on your badass stick or arcade cabinet OR you just can't stand to displace your fingers when you need to be taking defensive action or finishing your combo.

btw Knee & Yoho are pretty different, yo!

It looks like you have just proven yourself wrong about this being a "joke" topic because of the useful information you just handed out. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/cool.gif

    It's appriciated.

Hi. Don´t know if this is useful. But I think it´s much easier to do K+G:G With the old psx digital pad. O.K. it´s best with stick, but if you have to use a pad I´d suggest using a digital one.
Those analogue buttons from the PS2 pad are not made for Just Frame inputs I think.

On a pad, What you can do is lightly press K+G or R2. and press and hold kick. ON a pad I can do it about 70% of time. The key is to practice flicking R2 fast. Just practice that at first. Just flicking R2 and use the practice mode option to turn the joystick controls to see your input. Then once you done practicing flicking R2 lightly then go for it. Flick R2 hold kick. All I haev to say is press R2 light, light, light, light and press and hold kick immediately afterwards.

Once you get the hang of it. It not to bad but you haev to understand the concept of the move first.

I know a better way to do the knee of akira on a pad.
Set the triangle as a k+g and the circle as a K, so with your thumb press quickly these 2 buttons like the move of law on tekken (triangle->square) is pretty simple and fast.
I hope this can help someone ^_^
