The reasons you wanna laern this move have been stated, but I wanted to elaborate on why I think it's best to master this move on a downed oppt who's hit the wall.

Your other options here just aren't as good:

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif gives mediocre damage at 12 I think, along with by /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif at 12. The AS3 won't always connect after the first hit, and/or can be tech rolled (depends on position). This leaves /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and the Knee, both give 20 damage. While you actually CAN get better damage w/ the Bodycheck, at around 24, like someone else said, if they TR you're at disadvantage, so use it to KO people.

Here's the real reason you want to use the Knee here over, say /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif: to keep hitting them after they Tech Roll. VF5's wall game in insane, and Akira has great options for making a Wall KD: /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif etc. There are plenty of clips that show Akira making a Wall(KD) combo, only to smack the oppt into the wall AGAIN as they try to get up, for a Wall KD -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Watch the Akira/Eileen clip on the PS3 disc. Another little-discussed point is that unlike /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, the Knee actually recovers better than other options, which serves 2 purposes: it gives Akira a little more advantage when they TR, and if they DON'T TR, he can then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif them.

Also, if you've hit someone into the Face Down, Head Towards position, and they've stayed there after the Knee hit, when they Tech Roll they'll be open to a Back Stagger, and Akira will be in perfect range to hit them with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif etc.

If you use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif etc, you loose the chance to do all these things, especially with the Down Attacks, which reset the action, and put Akira on the defensive against rising attacks.

It's worth noting too that this is the perfect time to practice the Knee mid-match in versus play, because missing should get you either /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, either of which will still hit them on the ground, and leave you at no real danger.

Even the very best Akiras in the world will still mess this (and other difficult Akira commands/combos) up from time to time, so just practice and stick with it. To not use this great move is a shame.

Another tidbit; I do believe (it was like this in evo anyways) that if you do 466p+k at wall for instance if your opponent techs quickly he has atleast a guaranteed throwattempt on you, maybe AC.

Hello everyone. I have decided to throw my opinion into the ring. I have seen this question many times on this site and I have not seen anyone describe it the way I tell people, or never took notice, so here it is. Oh as far as doing it on a pad I cannot help you, I am an old man so I only play with a stick when I play my fighting games. I feel when I read the posts on this subject people are not actually trying to do the move as much as trying to "trick" the game into doing the move. I find most people do not play like me, meaning I use one finger for each button, so this is my personal explanation. I hit K+G with my thumb and middle finger then I lift up my thumb off G first followed by my middle finger off of K. Of course this basic description does not sound like it is helping at all to most people, but I feel you need a basic idea of the motion made since it is a unique motion. And like Akira's two other execution heavy moves, it just requires speed. I only play Akira and I pretty much do it at will. I am unfortunately the only person I know who plays this game seriously in my immediate area but I have explained my technique to others I know and it has helped them with their execution. So basically like I have told them work on the proper motion then add speed. I hope this helps someone. Thank you for your time.

About 95% of people do it this way. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

17 frame mid that launches on normal and is only PK able or throw counterable on block.

Sarah's serpent cannon first hit is PKable and doesn't even have close to the damage potential of the Knee.

I say use that sucker, if you screw it up you get either /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif , the former is only -6 on block, -1 on hit, down on MC and has a canned ender you can threat with. The latter is only -4 on block, down on any hit!

PSSSH, just use it. Half the fun of Akira is learning how to use and do insane moves like this so you can embarass people lol.

Yeah, buuuut, can't you delay the second kick just slightly? The spilt second it takes you to realise that the followup kick isn't coming, you've pretty much lost the guaranteed window!

The grass is always greener... /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

To get back on topic: How do I do Akira's knee? With great ease.

I'm surprised that no one has answer the original question yet...

To do Akira's Knee you do

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and hold /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif but release /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif in 1 frame
