    Sega,

I have been playing the Virtua Fighter series since Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution. Virtua Fighter is the only game franchise that I enjoy playing as much as Tekken 6. Whether you release it for PS3, Xbox 360, or both, you are gauranteed to have me buy the game. With the fighting game genre becoming more and more popular, this is also probably the best time to be putting it out on the console market.

"My first time with Virtua fighter was on the Ps2. Virtua fighter 4 Evo...
I discovered an incredible game, but since nobody wanted to play with me in my town, it didn't last long...

But when i got my X box 360, it was different.
I was able to play with my friends online !
So for the first time of my life, i bought an Arcade Stick (Hori Ex 2).
It feel like it was yesterday...
If you want to learn how to play with a stick, VF is perfect.
This game made me serious about fighting games.

I think this serie has no rival. It's actually the Best Versus fighting game !
The only problem is... I can't play...
    Why ?
Because it mean nothing to play an old version, when you are forced to look at all those great matches in japan...

Why am i unable to start climbing this montain again ?
Please, once again, let me feel this feeling of accomplishment.
I want to come back ! i want to train again and again...
I want to select Jacky and yell "Come on !" with him !

This game is important for me,
    Merci.

    ps: Sorry, bad english.

    VF5 > SF4 > T6 imo

I played the original VF on the arcades, then I didn't play until VF4 on ps2, which I loved playing even though I had no-one to play with [IMG]

I want to keep playing this great game!

VF2 was the first game I ever played that I really wanted to study and truly learn, I don't want to learn any other fighter that is out out as much as I want to learn VF. I love the basic concept you used focusing on technical gameplay over anything else there aren't many games around that do that. VF is the best fighter of all time hands down and the fact that it is still considered one of the best fighters outside of Japan proves just how popular the game is when it is compared to newer games like BlazBlue or Street Fighter 4. Many of the best players in Japan want VF5R on console just like the rest of us in America and Europe why is this such a hard decision COME ON SEGA.

Wow, been offline for a while, so glad I made it in time to try and contribute for the petition.

    To keep it relatively short, which is impossible;

I first laid my eyes on Virtua Fighter as soon as it launched in the arcades. After moving to London back in 93, I became a regular at going to the arcades. I loved the game at first sight, but the game was extremely difficult at learning, so I always ended up watching people play it. I particularly fell in love with the win poses and memorised them all. Then when Virtua Fighter 2 hit, I was completely mesmerised. I had not seen anything to even compare, and from being an enthusiastic martial artist at the time, the introduction of proper defence techniques, eg. Kage, Pai and Akira's counters, blew my mind!

Even though I spent tons of money playing it, the game, however, was too tough to really manage to compete with the rest of the arcade-goers. Although not even close to the likes of Chibita, I bonked school on numerous occasions just to go and watch people play VF2. A major reason for my constant visit to the arcades was in hope to see the experts reaching Akira stage. The stage music is, even up until this day, my absolute favourte among any game music. I never advanced to compete against Akira, always dying against Jeffry.

Then, when the SEGA Saturn was released, I purchased the unit solely on having the opportunity on playing Virtua Fighter. I remember being at a friend's house playing VF2, swapping one at a time trying to pull off Akira's Stun Palm of Doom (Sandan). After about an hours try, I was the first one out of all my friends who could pull it off! It was the happiest day of my life, haha.

Further on, once 1996 came around and VF3 was shipped to the arcades, I was yet again fully stunned. I went as an exchange student to Japan in 97 and was in the arcades every day after school. There again, the game and engine of VF was too tough for me to grasp. I continued playing Street Fighter and Tekken for full, becoming very, very strong. However, the game I REALLY wanted to play was, of course, Virtua Fighter. Having only one year of Japanese study prior to my departure for Japan, the tactics written about Virtua Fighter in the biweekly Gamest magazines were too hard to understand. Too many kanji and difficult terms put a big hamper to my learning of the game. In fact, after returning from Japan a year later, I had not really learnt anything game-engine wise.

Then, once I purchased a Dreamcast (again solely on the purpose of playing Virtua Fighter) I was very lucky to discover a website called Virtuafighter.com. I was so utterly amazed at how any website could surpass the greats of even the Gamest magazines. This site explained every technique fully, having video examples of Kankoku-stepping and ura-okizeme techs, plus all-willing in sharing information to new players joining the site.

Virtua Fighter 4 had just been released while I was press at TGS in 2001. SEGA had the arcade game free to play for all, even providing IC cards to start a main character. Friends from Norway who were with me absolutely loved it and vowed to purchase the console version as soon as it hit the PS2. These friends became VF players and dropped all other fighting games. In order to learn the game fully, I practically purchased ALL guide books, guide dvds and tournament dvds published related to VF4, VF4Evo and VF4FT. The Challenge Mode that came with Evo is the most brilliant feature to ever be released in a game, FULL STOP. As stated earlier, the main reason for me not playing Virtua Fighter as much as I wanted back in the old days was because of its complexity. This mode explained the engine clearly to even us mortals. I played this mode to death clearing it with every single character in the end, no cheating!

My friends and I even put well-earnt money together and purchased in 2005 a second-hand VF4FT PCB to use with our newly purchased Naomi Universal Cabinets, all just to have the authentic "Versus" arcade experience. We even considered buying a VF5 PCB before finding out it was only for rental! Thus, I purchased a Playstation 3 console, again, solely on the purpose of playing Virtua Fighter 5. In 2007 I purchased an Xbox 360 solely on the purpose of VF5 Online! Microsoft owe you guys at SEGA a ton of money considering I practically only play on the 360 now and would have NEVER even considered the console had it not been for YOUR game.

Now, we have the issue with VF5R. Here again, my friends and I wanted to purchase the whole PCB but feared your amusement machine policy was still in office. So, here we are, not having a console version and not even having the ability to purchase the arcade version. I have spent INSANE amounts of money on the Virtua Fighter franchise and I WISH to spend more. However, with your current policies my money is stuck in a standstill.

    Dearest regards,

Wow, a home console-VF5R actually seems probable now; awesome!

Here goes my message to SEGA:

I have not been playing Virtua Fighter for very long (only for a few months!),
however, it feels as if I have been playing for much longer. When I bought a
Sega Saturn last August, the first game I bought for it was Virtua Fighter 2
(in fact, that's half the reason I bought a Saturn). Since then, I have
acquired VF3tb on Dreamcast and VF5 for Xbox 360. None of the other fighters I
have played contain the level of balance and depth of strategy which VF does.
The games which make me think twice about my strategy (like VF) are exactly the
types of games I enjoy most.

It is safe for me to state that Virtua Fighter is by far my favorite fighting
series (and I love plenty of other fighters). I am planning to build a Naomi
kit so that I can play VF4 Final Tuned, and should you guys not port VF5R, I
will probably seek a Lindbergh kit within the next ten years. Yes, the sheer
number of hours I have spent watching VF5R on Youtube has convinced me to
obtain this game one way or another, even if that means spending $3,000 or more
for it (that is, if it is even possible to do so; I hear rumors that these
machines are only leased. Nevertheless, I would be willing to buy one).

Virtua Fighter may not be considered a mainstream fighter here in the US, but
there are still many fans over here, and we are extremely loyal. I certainly
would not mind buying this game a second time if VF5R is released
internationally. SEGA, you pulled through for us once with VF4 Evo; you can
    easily do it again.

Oh, and by the way, I don't even have a 360, yet I still bought your game!

I'm relatively new to VF, but I have doubt that this is the deepest of all fighting games out there, and would love to see the new version ported to the consoles.

I have been playing Virtua Fighter since the very first game was released in US arcades. I played it even more on my Sega Saturn. Around the age of 12, I had started playing Virtua Fighter 2 a lot on my Saturn with my father. He would use Jeffery and I would use Lion. It was one of the the few games we really had a lot of fun playing together. I have been following the Virtua Fighter series closely for years, hungry to play each new iteration. My passion for the series has spread amongst my personal friends and they too have learned to play Virtua Fighter especially Virtua Fighter 4 and Virtua Fighter 5. My passion for this deep and unique fighting game series has not dwindled. I feel it is irreplaceable because it is one of the only games where it truly feels like the skill of the player is the focal point of a battle, rather than the character chosen or the stage, or any other extraneous feature of the game. Virtua Fighter must continue that legacy and make it available to players on an international scale. It is with this wish that I ask you to bring Virtua Fighter 5 R to consoles in multiple territories so that many of us who do not have access to Japanese arcades have the chance to continue showing our support for this franchise that we hold dear.

I've been playing Virtua Fighter since the first game. I first played it at a now closed Miniature Golf center. The first game came out in 93, so I guess I've been playing the series for a whopping 16 years haha. I think Virtua Fighter is the most under appreciated video game series. Which is a shame, as it's one of my all time favorites in gaming.

My brother and I would play every new Virtua Fighter, and that was the extent of my competition. It wasn't until Virtua Fighter 5 on X Box that I was able to play other people who weren't my brother, and it was truly awesome.

Now though, I occasionally watch matches of VF5R on YouTube and I become quite jealous. I often complain to my brother that the game probably won't be released on consoles, but this petition gives me hope. I would love nothing more than to play Virtua Fighter 5R, and if proclaiming my undying loyalty to the series like this is what it takes, I'm all in. So please, grant us VF fans our wish, and release Virtua Fighter 5R on consoles.

    Dear Sega,
As a long time fan of all your great franchises, I hope you will look around and see the explosion of the fighting community and bring that touch of class that Virtua Fighter has to the current day with Virtua Fighter 5R on consoles.
We love to play and encourage new players, but nothing excites gamers more than an updated version, and it's what we need to advance the community around your game.
After having played Virtua Fighter since the first edition in the arcades and following on the Saturn and Dreamcast to the latest VF5 on the Xbox, it's definitely time to reinvigorate your fanbase and draw new fans with VF5R.

    Sega...

I've enjoyed the virtua Fighter series since it's very first entry, and despite my gripes with the series, I still stick with it because the gameplay has always been rock solid. I feel you guys should bring VF5:R to console because now is a GREAT time to get new people playing your game. Fighters are on the rise again...if there's any time to do this, now is the PERFECT TIME!

    Sega,

I've enjoyed the Virtua Fighter series since the beginning and I personally feel that the game helped define the 3-D fighting game genre. Recently, I've been playing Virtua Fighter 5 and was amazed to see what the game has developed into since its initial release. With the recent success of fighting games such as Street Fighter 4, Tekken 6, and Blazblue I feel that this is an appropriate time to release VF5:R due to its diversity compared to the other games within its genre.

    To Sega,

I've been a fighting game fan for a long time and a Sega fan for longer. I spent a lot of time hanging out in the arcade burning through money to play the VF series. The gameplay has always been great and the quality of VF5 shows it even more. If you have an opportunity to release a better version of VF5 to a bigger audience when the interest in fighting games is higher than it has been in a while, why not do it?

    Sega,

I've been playing VF since VF3. I bought VF5 for PS3. It was a great game but I was very dissappointed it had no online mode. Then I heard Xbox 360 version was coming out with online. I bought that game with my Xbox 360. I love VF as well as many other fighing games. I spent hrs on it. I would love to have VF5R for consoles. Please release it for PS3 and Xbox 360.

I think having VF5r on console would be a great opportunity for those wanting to get into the Virtual Fighter scene, with the current out dated versions, people simply don't want to pick it up. Everybody always wants to play the latest!

  17. Dear Sega,

I have been playing VF 5 shortly after it's release in the US, and I have enjoyed it since. Although there aren't as many VF players here in the US as there are in Japan, our love for the game continues to persevere through the tough times. VF has brought the fans something that other fighting games couldn't give, and that was the determination to fight for a game we love. So, please do consider bringing VF:5 here to the states.

I bought Virtua Fighter 5 the day it came out on 360 and we had a lot of fun playing that at work. I think partly because I was playing Lion Rafale who shared a similar name with my boss at the time, Brian Raffel, and we used to joke that Lion was his long lost idiot brother or something. Every time you'd hear "Forgot to train, eh." or "I'm twice the man I used to be!" someone else would be like, "F**ken Raffels!" Anyway, VF5 is hella fun and I'm down to buy a hella funner version if you put it out!

    sega,

ive been playing fighting games since street fighter 2, i play a whole bunch of fighting games and virtua fighter is one of them. while i cant say i am as dedicated as the true fans of this game i feel for their plight and if vf5r did come out on console i would definitely purchase it myself also.

releasing vf5r on console is the right thing to do by your fans if anything else.

people outside of japan do not have access to the game and are very eager to play it, its rather mean that your just only letting japan enjoy the game. there are definitely many more people outside of japan that want to be involved.

if cost is a issue maybe you could have vf5r run as a dlc for existing vf5 that way the costs of manufacturing and distribution would be reduced and im sure vf fans would still pay full retail price for it.

if it does come out make sure this time around both ps3 and xbox360 have netplay and not just xbox360 and make sure its good.

personally i think you will politely push aside all these letters and just stall more.

i previously had a much less pleasant letter written. but i suppose there is no point to that
i have hope but no faith in sega

fighters are in season currently and there is much money to be made why are you just laying around doing nothing?

    Dear Sega,

Thank you very much for making one of the greatest fighting game series of all time. I was introduced to the VF series back in VF4 Evolution, and I've loved it ever since. Out of all the fighting games I've played so far (quite a few I must say), VF5 is definitely one of my top 3 favourites. I love VF the most for its learning curve, the gameplay and the characters. I bought VF5 on Xbox360, loved it so much to the point where I got me another copy for the PS3. I was very excited upon hearing the news that VF5R is coming to the arcade and hoped that Sega would port the game to a home console. Since then, my desire to play VF5R have grown even stronger, watching the gameplay on Youtube only makes me want to play the game even more. I sincerely hope that someday (hopefully soon ^_^), I'll be able to play VF5R in my living room.
