My 360 died recently and i played a bit of 4 EVO, i can't belive how much I learnt from those training exercises. Learning to struggle stumbling trip and block the follow ups made me really happy /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

I missed out on VF:EVO. I never got to experience the training excercises.I wish they were in 5. When i got 5 that when i Had to learn the nuances from scratch on the fly and in dojo. I could say a lot of my rank losses came on the fact that i played very good opponents without learning the nuances and got exposed.

I haven't played his Shun for ages but I do remember him playing abare with Shun. I played his Jacky recently though and it was totally different, he was playing very safe.

Yeah, he is not just an abare. He knows much about the theory of frames and is capable of carrying it into practice. It's just that Shun is weak unless incorporating the "abare" style and Jack is weak if you go with the "Abare" style, I think.

I agree with this completely. This is why I feel when I play Jacky (which is hardly ever anymore) that more of my basic old school skills come back to me. It made me realize recently that the way I play VF is completely different between the two characters.

Shun is definitely intended to be played with some abare (or for me almost all abare). Masa would you say the main reason is because he doesn't have an elbow type move?

Hell no that's not the reason. It's because many of his attacks have evasive properties, very good reach or both. Combine that with the fact it's really hard to tell what Shun will do next or if he will finish a combo is all pieces of the puzzle to fuel abare. If Shun's attacks such as /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif lost it's evasive properties no one would play an abare Shun. It would be more defensive with more running away and falling down on the ground ala VF2 and VF3 style. Moves like these I think gives players an edge and a sense of confidence. This confidence feeds the need to play abare in my opinion.

I'll agree that that has led to me playing in such a fashion with Lei Fei. Then when I play quality opponents i find myself attacking from disadv. off instinct, and peeps like jhow and konjou destroy me.

It seems that Konjou answered the question for me /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
Speaking of elbow, I hear that Shun's gotten an elbow attack in VF5R. I hope SEGA is working hard to port it to 360 /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Yes shun is even more trickier in R with an elbow class move while still retaining is ever loving 3P. I started with VF4FT in terms of real human competition but VF in general it was since part 2 for those that want to know.

Everybudy says that who doesnt use shun.

Yes, I think Shun is strong, but he has weak point too.

In my opinion, Eileen and Brad is strong character more than Shun in VF5R.
