I'm pleased to announce that the new VFDC Command Lists are now live! You may have seen teasers for the new features dropped via Twitter over the past weeks, but be sure to read on for a full feature breakdown.

    slide.jpg

    Access
You can access the new Command Lists via the Commands menu item in the top navigation bar. Selecting Commands will immediately take you to the default index page for VF5FS, however, this also acts a drop-down menu allowing you to jump directly to a character.

    Index Page
When viewing an index page for a game version, you'll be presented with a list of characters to select from.

    chara-select.jpg

In the side bar, you'll also get a neat summary of how many commands there are for each character, and the grand total for that version.

    chara-totals.jpg

Also in the side bar are links to past VF versions.

    New Layout
Once you've selected a character to view, the biggest difference you'll notice is the layout. Categories are now grouped in tabs along the top, allowing for quicker access and reducing the need for vertical scrolling.

    categories.jpg

    Sorting by Column
If a column heading is clickable, then you may sort by that column. Click the column again to toggle between ascending and descending sort. Clicking the main Command column will revert back to the default sort.

    Single Command View
You'll notice that command names are now links. Clicking on these will open a popup window giving you more detailed data than shown by default, as well as visualisations for frame data and evade directions.

    command-view.jpg

For VF5FS in particular, the Side frame data is automatically calculated by applying the correct bonus based on the attack's damage value, and displayed for your convenience. Hovering over the Side data row label will display a popup revealing the side frame bonus applied.

    Icon View
Have you ever wanted to look up a character's move, but didn't know what the command was? Well, the icon view can perhaps help you find it! Currently for VF5FS only, this feature may be accessed in the View drop-down menu in the upper right corner.

Thank you to akai for permission to use his images captured for his VF Moves Project. At this stage, we don't have images for all character's rising attacks. But if someone is able to capture and provide them, then get in touch!

    Mobile Friendly
The new Command Lists are mobile friendly now. When the resolution is reduced, columns will be automatically hidden to keep the view clutter free and legible. If you're interested in data that's not being shown, don't worry, just click on the command name to open the detailed popup!

    Sticky Header
Now when you're scrolling down the command lists, the header row will stick to the top of your browser window. This will help you keep track of all data!

This also works in the responsive layouts, so mobile and tablet users won't be left behind:

Those with a keen eye will now notice that the Escape column is now displayed in the minimum column set.

I hope you enjoy these new features!

Very solid and good work here, and it also makes the unfortunate - but important - discussion about donation feel even more "well earned", in lack of a better way to phrase it right now.

The time everyone involved is putting down on this website are extremely appreciated!

UPDATE: The View drop-down menu now has a Print option. This displays all the command categories down a single page (i.e. without tabs) which is more suited for print.

Everytime I look at this new command list I'm really impressed.
I need to say it again: GOOD JOB!

On mobile (I use it a lot while I'm playing) is it possible to have the column where a move can be evaded?
Maybe with just the intial letter (Back, Front , Any, None)

Just a quick note to mention that the main post has been updated with the newest feature for the Command Lists -- the Sticky Header -- which will ensure that the header row will always remain in view when scrolling down long lists.

Also, a minor update, but the Escape column is now visible in the lowest window resolution, so mobile users will have this info immediately displayed (feature requested by @G0d3L).

      Really neat!

Ehy Myke what about the animated gif for each move?
We could speed up the process of all the people with a captured card would do one character each.
This way could be done really fast

@G0d3L and @Myke I have no problem doing the gifs for all the character, but the average size is like 400kb for each image. That may make the command list heavier to load (especially for mobiles) so I would like to know first if the pop up that comes when you press a move loads in that moment the image or it does that in background when loading all the command list. If Myke gives me the ok i can proceed and make gifs for every move.

      Gosh, I missed that sorry.
Anyway I'll make the gif and try to make them as small as possibile and see if in the future they can be included in the Command List.

I think there is a small pbm with the filtering on columns.
For example with Lei, If you try to sort move on a given tab(stance) by asc/desc active frames, you will always get back to the normal stance.
    15. Myke
      Myke
Right. That's an (unfortunate) side effect of using the forum framework's built-in capabilities. Even though it returns you to the default "normal" tab, the sort is still applied.
    16. Chibitox
      Chibitox
Ah ok thanks, I didn't pay attention to the fact that the filter was still applied to other tabs (I really should get more sleep :p). Ok so it's not a big issue, sorry for the trouble.

there is an issue with movelist on mobile phones that potentially affect even PC users under specific (extreme) circumstances

The issue is - there is no scrollbar allowed in Movelist; and the minimum allowed page size < minimum size of all columns togather.

As a result, if your window (shrinked on PC, or due to low resolution on your phone) is not wide enough, you do not see some columns because they are LEFT OUT (not displayed at all). This may affect both 'Sob' and 'Notes' columns.

Specifically on my smartphone, if I hold it top-on-top oriented, I can not see either of them; and if I hold it side-on-top oriented, I can see Sob but still not Notes.
      =====================================================================================================
Also under this extreme conditions, the Command column sometimes looks... Terrible; showing things like
      [6][P]
      [4][K]
      (hit)[P]
      [+][G]
what is quite.... disease - yet there are even worse examples of what may happen with Command column. Look at Vanessas OS Crimson Lancer or Blazes Just Face Lock or Akiras Teirou Kanpoand or Aois Taiboku Taoshi and you will see... things :) But best one by far is Akiras Jiroun Tanzan!!! :D
      Jirou
      Tanzan

      [3][P]
      [+][K]
      [+][G]
      (guard)
      [4][3]
      [P][+]
      [K][2]
      [3][6]
      or [2]
      [1][4]
      [P][4]
      [6] or
      [6][4]
      [P][+]
      [K]

@Myke sorry for error on my side earlier, the issue I reffered to is related to MOVE lists (this one), not to COMBO lists.

Umm, this behaviour is intentional and by design. It is the basic principle behind responsive layouts. If you had read the news announcement carefully you would have seen that some columns are hidden automatically when the resolution is lowered:

Obviously, some really long commands like Akira's Jirou Tanzan that you quoted just can't fit comfortably in a narrow space. To make this more "display friendly" I'd have to completely redesign the layout such that each command is displayed over two rows: the first row for the command input (maximising the horizontal space) and the second row for the command data.

But this is a lot of re-work for little value since we're only talking about a small number of commands that have this display "difficulty".

      @Myke
The shrinked commands are just an annoyance, not real problem. Sometimes they are also quite funny ;)

On other hand the "mobile friendly" solution is quite unfriendly if you are actually searching for information from your mobile phone :(
The "click to popup" is merely a workaround, not a solution. Firstly on lower resolutions it is screwed as well, secondly if I am searching for specific info like "which of my moves sobbers?" or "which lei fei moves end is koko shiki?" or "which all moves are sabaki?", I am screwed :(
Personally I will really appreciate option to click on or to choose, option that will say "show all columns by default". I will rather scroll and have all information at hand that keep clicking on name after name, topped with turning my phone from top-on-up to side-on-up and back to change what I see and how it looks because of the design of the page.

This are the reasons why I say that themovelist on VFDC is "kinda meh" when viewed on phone. It does not feel much user-friendly and it takes a lot of additional effort to get all the information it contains.
The data inside on other hand, they are invaluable :)
I can understand the effort to make the page look cleen and compact; but still, I will really appreciate the option to choose between "nice" and "all"

@Myke also one small detail I spot, dunno if it was changed by intent or not, so please take this just as a notification of potential bug, not as complaint (unlike above ;) )
