Think it's not a catch throw. But this freking DM P+K duck highs so sometimes you can feel it like it "ctaches" you in a move motion

Well it's listed as a catch throw on the command lists, i'm sure there are other catch throws that are escapeable too, not like it's a big deal though. I was just a bit confused when LM Akira said all catch throws are inescapeable.

Checked in the glossary and they don't specify that CT are inescapable, so maybe are some others aren't ... It's not very clear.

All catch throws are inescapable. Simple. I know how you feel because I was under a different impression myself too, but in VF5 I dont know of a catch throw that can be escaped..

According to movelist, its a catch throw and its inescapable.. (btw, you can lowthrow wolf out of his DM P+K)

Now i'm even more confused, I escape that move all the time. You have to input 4p+g or 6p+g depending on which way he evades but you can do multiple TE.

Yes, my own opinion is that on sidehit it becomes a regular sidethrow which is escaped like you said. So thats not a catch throw.
However, wolfs throw from DM P+K depends which direction he grabs the opponent from. The backthrow variant is inescapable for sure, and right now I dont remember what happens if he grabs opponent from the front as thats pretty rare.

Wolf's DM P+K is certainly escapable...

If he dodges into the background to do the DMPK throw you break with 4P+G and if he dodges into the foreground you break with 6P+G. If he dodges behind you, then the throw becomes inescapable, every other option you can escape with either 4 or 6 and P+G.

I think that Wolf's DM P+K is a catch throw however because it can eat attacks. Catch throws can beat attacks if they are timed right and result in a normal hit only if you are hit while executing a catch throw. A regular throw will either clash or get you MC'd if you are hit during the start-up.

I was under the impression that Wolf's DM P+K is actually a catch throw because of its attack-beating properties. If Wolf goes for his DM P+K and you try to do a standing jab to knock him out of the throw it won't work, you will get thrown and your attack will just get eaten. You can DEFINITELY ESCAPE WOLF'S DM P+K...[/size] So if inescapable is the definition of a catch throw then it's not a catch throw. If beating attacks (with good timing of course) is the definition of a catch throw then it is a catch throw.

I dont think it eats attacks, it just happens to dodge and autocrouch at same time.

All catch throws 'eats' mid and high attacks since VF4. Wolf DM p+k IS a catch throw that can be escaped from the front or side except back(70pts) and will 'EAT' attacks.

Rather than add to the confusion, just switch on your xbox, set CPU to neutral, throw escapes on and you can do Wolf's DM p+k to throw from the front/side/back until you are 100% happy. Set 2nd player to controller and pick Akira, knock him down and get a friend to do dbl palm immediately after a TR while you do Wolf's DM p+k.

From Chef_frash drilling me on getting out of wolfs DM P+K it is indeed a catch through and you can hit him out of it everytime you just have to time it right so you're not attacking while he's evading.

You can also be 0frame thrown during the catch throw execution.

With this regard, I'd like to understand the execytion time of Akira's catch throw. The frame list doesn't mention it. I tried to understand it from dojo but I couldn't do much, at best I tried to set the CPU to guard and then mid and tried to go +4 with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif but I couldn't catch the opponent, so I guess the execution time is at least 19 frames...

Catch throws will eat standing attacks during their execution phase provided they haven't yet reached their active (or hit) frames.

You can attack Wolf out of his DM P+K, but it's probably safest to do it with a low attack since there's no risk in the catch throw eating your attack.

So catch throws will always 'eat' mid and high attacks unless your timing is off.
