They want people to play with. They want more people with a similar dedication to the game to be active members of the, sparingly thin, VF community outside of Japan. If a new version, with new characters, new moves, tweaked systems, etc attracts those players and keep them engaged with VF without detracting from the mechanics that make VF VF, then the "old-school" will get what it effectively wants.

Tournaments where you're scrambling for 12 people and constantly having to tear 9 of those 12 off of other games (could be anything) just to get them to play their matches is not the VF community we want. But it's reflective of the reality of the situation.

IF i have to watch to shitty ass females play DOA in a tournament then i know its a bad,Bad World.I forgot the tournament name on G4TV that held the matches but watching the DOA battles was lame as fuck.I explain to my girlfriend the importance of Ring Outs and Rings.They ran from each other the whole fucking fight thus prompting me back to realizing why rings are the shit. If Sega wanted this game to pick up steam then maybe they should spend funds to advertise the shit. this is not the only game to get the shitty end of the stick from Sega belief that games outside of Japan don't get love.
