Lei Fei is nowhere near having the highest combo damage.

 

Nowhere near? Must be my misconception then, but when I play ken hes done a 60%+ combo on me at times.

Still, heavyweights should have the highest damage potential, otherwise its ridiculous.

look, I'm not saying the game is broken.. or even unbalanced to the point that tiers overcome skill.

I'm just saying that by logic only, the big guys should be doing the most damage, and progressively less as you move down the weight divisions.

 

Uhm, no, lol. You're way, way off. Lei Fei's combo damage is average, if not even below average. And no one has 60% combos except for some very extreme wall combos.

That said, have you even checked up on the kind of damage potential Wolf and Jeff have? Seriously?

 

I thought some more about it, and I realised I was confusing multiple issues and not articulating my thoughts properly. Namely it kept crossing my mind about how old men and skinny guys can be the best in the game if its realistic... then lol I realised if everything made sense there wouldnt be floaty juggles and flying through the air for a down attack.

I understand this now, and thanks for your input, it helped me greatly.

 

probably because you didn't struggle out of a stagger, or didn't techroll.

 

Yeah.. thats probably it. He did the crane kick that staggered and proceeded to combo from there for big damage.

 

it's my understanding the tiers are based on of risk reward. He has to take less risk to get a decent amount of dmg.

 

I have to go ahead and disagree with the folks on here saying Wolf and Jeff don't have damaging combos.

They can kill you in 2 or 3 guesses - that's it. Jeffry has a good bounce starter, knee, wall ability, etc.

Wolf is dangerous in any throw direction and also possesses wall ability like Jeff.

 

But Jerky, its easier said than done creating a 50/50 situation with the Heavies.

My take on it is.
Even then, you guess right then you net 70 from Splash (or 80 from giant swing) or ~90 from a combo starting from a big launcher like 6K.

You guess wrong, you eat a ~70dmg combo and have to work to recreate that situation again, which aint a walk in the park.

 

LOL that shit is impossible to struggle out of with lag...

 

its not totally impossible.

ive sruggled out of lots of attacks like that.

but if you think struggling is hard, try doing EMTEG with lag.

i swear its not funny how most of my inputs dont register.

(same goes with the ground throws and low throws)

 

It's funny, because the very people in the A and S ranks are the people that give me the most trouble.

 

Thats you man. My main adversary is Sarah. I don't have any real personal problem with any of the high tiers...excluding the occasional Kage. Tricky son of a...(not you Tricky...the gay ninja)

Excluding throw-based setups (pedigree gives me nightmares) i'd guess that a fully charged OS /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif; /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif combo on lightweights can take out more than half their lifebar too, right?

 

Does the learning curve factored in?

What are the exact criteria?

 

the list is pretty much based on Risk/rewards.

I don't think learning curve is considered.

 

Yeah, the tier list is just a determination of how much damage a character can produce while opening themselves to the least risk of counterattack.

 

I believe that he is easily S tier. his damage potential is def up there with lei. but he is so basic to use. he has alot of good tools as well. guard crush/good throws/insanely high damage potential.

what do you guys think??

I think this list is pretty accurate after playing VF5 for a while now... Lau is the best character in tier A but falls JUST short of S tier...

I find the the other A tier characters to be very, very strong as well... However, EVERY character on that list has absolutely destroyed me many times. All of the characters are just deadly when played well.
