Ahem, I thought Akira's shoulder shared the same limited evasiveness as Goh's in Evo and I've definitely killed highs with it in VF5. And though -9 is bad it is still safe.
I like the move but then again I'm not really an Akira player.

In my opinion, one of the reason why poor akira is 3rd tier now is the loss of power in his shoulder ram. Aside from the obvious that it doesn't float, it also lost the evasive property it used to have, like against low punch and etc.

That was old news for version b. In version c, the evasion property is back, and imo it is pretty useful now.

What is the evasion property in ver C. I still get stuffed by 2P all the time during the ShldRm start up...

its a high crush so low punch will beat it out

So it goes through high attacks? Interesting as you have to do it from ducking when a high wouldn't hit anyway. What's the point of that? Does it crush special highs too?

Yes, It will go *under* High attacks. If you buffer it then you will just slip right under the high and hit them forcing a stagger....

Can someone verify any changes for Ver. C at least?

Sorry, I'm bad with frame data, not sure how to setup the test for that. If you got a way for me to test it I'll test it for you.

EDIT: Not sure if this is even what you're interested in, but if you do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and the opponent jabs right after, you are able to go underneath it with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. It's the same for /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif too.

If that's not what you wanted, just say.

I'll never complain enough about the loss of floating capabilities for the shoulder ram. Just think of the usefulness of a floater that works from a crouched position. It must have been good in VF4 to use it after a low kick of your opponent from standing up. Any usefulness for this move now?

I have some serious problems in punishing Lau's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.
I know it's -25, but i seem to be unable to punish it.
Yesterday i found in quest mode a Lau that always repeatedly did that move. I made a lot of matches against him, waiting for that move and focusing on punishing it with some big damage retaliation like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+following combo or SPoD.
I could never do it. It's like if i start too late. I tried to anticipate my reactions but only ended up in eating the low kick.
What can i do to train myself to react to that move?

Firstly, don't ever try to punish that sweep with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, Lau may be on -25 but Akira's overhead dbpm has 23 frames of startup. It may theoretically be possible by 2 frames grace but it's certainly not advisable. Best punisher in this case would be yoho (18 frames startup) or knee (17 frames startup).

SPoD is, again, as risky as doing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif because it has 20 frames of startup.

Stick with punishing it with yoho, and see how you go.

Thanks man, don't know why but i was convinced that /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif was 19 frames...
OK, i'll try with Yoho, but i must say that i more than everything tried with SPoD, which is only 2 frames slower than /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. I'll try anyway.

If you are going to SPoD, remember you can do it from crouching and you can still be holding the stick down for the first part, i.e. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, so you can punish the sweep very quickly this way.

Nope, overhead dbpm has 23 frames of startup in both Ver.B and Ver.C of VF5. It's a slow move that should never really be used to try and punish something on block. (It's so slow, you kinda need to use it pre-emptively for it to hit).

stpm (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif) is a staple fast punisher when you're standing (depending on how disadvantaged your opponent is) as is yoho/knee. Obviously dbpm is as well if you're already crouching when blocking but you can get more rewarding returns with other moves.

Actually, no you can't. At least in Ver.B. If you hit P+K+G whilst crouching you will just get a crouching jab. Can you do this in Ver.C?

Oops, I take that back, it doesn't seem to work when I test it in the dojo. I guess I am releasing to neutral for going into the 2nd part at the same time I am hitting the P+K+G for the first part.

    Yeah neutral. P+G+K

Then as you press P+G+K make sure you do the grab quickly, I think you can buffer in the 2nd part (that's how I do it) and then while the grab is in, keep tapping the direction you started the grab and P.

    Eg.
    ....P+G+K
    ....(buffer) <-,df,P+G
    ....<-P (finish)
