The models did look really, really nice. And like the article said, you can tell that the clothing for Akira were constructed seperately from his body from the way it flowed and reacted to his movement. We can't comment on minute detail such has individual strands of hair or skin pores obviously because of the quality of the video, but we can safely say that things have come a long way since VF4. While the characters (specifically akira) look on par with those of DOA4, I'm impressed that there was no clipping whatsoever, unlike DOA4 where clipping of long hair was very noticible.

I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't expect much of a different look for Akira and Sarah. Throughout the series those guys have been fairly constant. It is players like Jacky and Lion who will probably have a different look.

If AM2 keep with tradition, as they have been, then we should expect to see all characters in their traditional 1P outfit, so Akira will have his white gi, Sarah will have her blue catsuit, etc.

I was extremely impressed with this demo from a technical and aesthetic point of view. As always, the art and beauty of VF is powerfully understated.

On a different note, I got goose bumps watching the afterburner demo as soon as the music kicked in. /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

As for tradition, AM2 should add 2 new characters. Maybe big comeback of Taka??

To be honest, I am getting quite bored of seeing the same 1P outfits time and time again for all the characters with each iteration of VF. Seeing the same white gi or Sarah's catsuit over and over again makes it all feel rehashed. I don't get that tingly feeling of playing something utterly brand spanking new.

I hope AM2 goes the way of Tekken so we get to see a fair amout change for each character.

You can customize your character more in Evo then you can in Tekken 5 (hoping I read what you wrote correctly). Shame on you for writing "I hope AM2 goes the way of Tekken", nomatter what follows!!! ^____^

The customization aspect is awesome. However, anything you customize with is done over the same old, original costumes. Adding boxing gloves to Akira's 1P gi does not change the fact that it's still a gi.

What I wish for is to have the same degree of customization (or even better hopefully), but I want a pretty different palatte(sp?) to customize.

what i love to see is if they do this add the character have new outfits and you what to fight to unlock the old ones.

next the customize system be a hell of a lot better i mean say if you be fighting in alot of stage with the sun really bright i would love to see that have a effect on the skin color, the items have more of a better idea to them like say you want to buy sarah or pai holliday outfits that would kick ass if they add this, i would also love to see them add more stages that have no ring like in VF3 that was fun ass hell no having to worry about that for a while and them have another good amount with the ring out.
and a tag mode for some turnaments that you and a friend can fight on team or against each other.

Go outside during the day - make it noon even. Stand there for, uh, say, 5 minutes. Come back inside. Has your skin changed colour?

This is a fighting game, not a scavenger hunt on Mercury.

What on earth are you talking about? Regardless of it being symmetrical, it's still a ring. Or do you mean ring-out? If so, then you're still off your cracker as every stage in VF3 has ring-out potential. And what do you mean by not having to worry about it? It's not like I need a 30 minute fix with Dr. Phil when someone chooses Taka's stage over Lion's.

Look, Coroo, just keep the 'desires' for VF5 in the realm of 'worthwhile'. I just don't see how Pai or Sarah's skin colour after a match is going to really make me want jump and say "VF5's so awesome! Sooo much better than 4! Woo!"

The desert stage had no borders if I'm not mistaken.

Let "tanned skin" be an item.

I never got a ring out on VF3 desert stage that I remember. Besides, I "worry" about ring-outs when I get into an open stage with LPC73. 'Course Dr. Phil just says "Just get over it, man. Use the [6][P]+[G], [1][P]+[G] throw escapes."

Yep, Wolf's VF3 stage was infinite. No boundries that I recall.

Yes but those invisible walls, one would probably never get there in a real fight. It was expansive enough that you had to find it by simply saying "hey, lets not fight and just see how far these dunes go".

As for the footage, Im getting psyched, I just gotta see some decent quality direct feed of it. I was looking to see if like Akira's gi was separately animated for realistic flow and such, but in all the cam shots Ive seen, its been too difficult to make out. But now that I hear it apparently is, this is gonna be some true next gen gaming (DOA4 didnt have anything like that really in the trailer). And Sarah, again direct feed would be nice, but could easily see some sexy shiny goodness taken to the next level ^_^

Speaking of the returning 1p looks. I dont feel its a rehash feel at all. With each VF the graphical advancement is enough to give you the new feel right off the start. As Ive said before, seeing traditional and the now classic costumes redone with greater detail is an excellent way to really see how far the game has come. When VF3 hit and had most of the cast in totally new outfits, it was flat out horrible (IMO). Sarah looked horrible in both her 1p and 2p designs (not even taking into account the insane amount of makeup she had), Pai was laughable, and Kage... the disco pants were so NOT ninja style. Change can be bad, it can be very bad. At least if say we get traditional 1p looks, with perhaps all new 2p costumes, then you can please both the traditional fan, and those craving something all new. Im just saying that total deviation can go as far as to alienate the fan. Now, I'll admit Im more of a traditionalist when it comes to my favorite characters, so natrually I even took note that Sarah now has her belt in the loose hang-around-hips style (as seen in that capsule figure recently released) and Im hoping that the original properly sized belt will be a customizable option for her. But the concept of it loose like that is certainly more technically challenging to pull off right. (and from what I saw, it looked right)

Which leads me to my next point. In VF5 Im sure they will take character customization to the next level. There will probably be enough add ons to make any traditional VF costume into something totally unique and your own. Hell, "tanning" would probably even be an option as well.

I'm beyond caring what system it gets released on. As long as we get an accurate port swiftly with some nice online features I'll be happy.
